Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'll be at Mdou Moctar tonight and the Phoebe/Brittany show at Ascend tomorrow. If anyone wants to have a meet up at or before hand, PM me and let's plan something out.
Kind of steep considering the situation but pretty fair considering the acts. I paid about 50 after fees for a ticket just to see Phoebe and I imagine the other acts would be similar.
Nashville update: the blue room at third man has gender neutral bathrooms. Thank you trans ally………Jack white??
Don’t tell them because they might freak out, but they use gender neutral bathrooms in their own homes every day…
I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, they had gender neutral bathrooms at Third Man and it was good; I just didn’t expect to see inclusivity like that there of all places lol.

That’s an interesting take. I personally haven’t heard or seen anything from Jack and third man other than inclusivity. What am I missing?

We got third row for 100 bucks. Considering I wanted to see every act, I find reasonable. Plus it feels like each of these shows individually is probably 40-50 dollar shows. It feels very strange that the dance party of the night will be the opener but I guess that’s just the way it goes

It’s not a take at all, I just don’t expect to see them anywhere, especially in Nashville, and I thought it was a nice surprise to see them at a small bar at the back of the record store. That and the phrase “trans ally Jack White” just sounded funny in my head.

Agreed, really feels like Sylvan with the full band should be last, but I get it. It'll just feel a little weird opening with this big fun show then going to a soft sad show lol. I'm also hoping they all get the same set lengths and Sylvan doesn't get the shortest. I'm guessing like an hour each?

Yeah I’m guessing it’s something like
Sylvan esso 7-8
Brittany Howard 8:30-9:30
Phoebe 10-11
Unless the curfew is past 11 then maybe each act will get 75 mins
I'll be shooting for Bonnaroo at the Khruangbin, Phoebe/Brittany/Sylvan Esso, and Leon Bridges shows this weekend if anyone is coming out. Find the fat guy in all black with a camera and come tickle me.
For people in the Nashville area: If I'm staying at a hotel in Brentwood, would you suggest driving and parking for the Ascend show or just doing Uber/Lyft?

Its a bit of a long Uber and you'll probably get hit with a surge leaving the concert and going back. However if you do drive and park, be prepared to pay at least $20 to park.

Mdou was loud but he definitely had the energy. I thought The Sword’s sound was mixed crazy bad yesterday and IIRC they said so themselves. (The opener Wizard Rifle gets a special shout-out though for having some of the most nuts drumming I’ve seen.)

the sword always has bad mixing
Everyone thought they sounded like shit at Psycho—someone said they talked to the sound guy and he said they skipped sound check
The last time I saw them (pre-hiatus) their sound wasn’t great either
Hope they can get it together by the time I see them again in a few weeks

I watch the podcast that their guitarist Kyle Shutt does and on one of them someone said to him that when The Sword are playing live it’s like he’s playing a different song than the rest of the band, but somehow it works. After hearing that and knowing the kind of music he actually likes, it makes perfect sense. He’s the stoner/classic rock guy in a metal band. I think it’s why they sound the way they do.
