Having a bit of the sads today. This was the day with the most acts I wanted to see. I should be rallying from Friday night’s insanity and getting ready to have my face melted off tonight.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 11/21 - Caribou @ Avant Gardner 11/23 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 11/25 - TV on the Radio @ Webster Hall 12/5 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/7 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/14 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center
LMAO someone changed the lyrics on Google to the tame Impala song to be about me?? Can’t screenshot rn but extremely funny
Legitimately had been on various Broadway rooftops with stlallison not checking Inforoo much at all until I saw that post by goldenbrown and wanted to make a Tame Impala joke. legitimately curious who did this??
Just learning those are the legitimate lyrics of the song and I’m just be a narcissistic douchebag who’s been singing the song wrongly this whole time, which is honestly way funnier
Going to be at Glass Animals in Charlotte tonight! Hope too see some fellow Roovians there! Will be seeing Primus tomorrow there as well, I see that The Sword opens for them so I’ll let you all know if the sound is mixed well or shit sounding.
Can someone with a pro account post the whole thing?
It's less about festival insurance and more about how in the wake of Covid, the big promoters entered into deals with the big agencies where if an event is cancelled due to something out of the promoters' control (such as Covid, or 1.45 inches of rain), the artists wouldn't necessarily be guaranteed their full cut.
If anyone wanted the answer to the Sylvan Esso debate, they said they were mostly going to do their songs with a couple covers with special guests. I hate being wrong but unfortunately I love Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” more.

do you think this is bad for artists being booked again for next year? I imagine it would be hard for a bunch of the smaller artists to say no to an offer to play Roo or another LN fest but acts like Tame, Lizzo, etc might not come back for this reason right?
Brittany Howard has way more energy (thanks stlallison) than anyone gives her credit for. I hate being wrong but I like Funkadelic’s “Hit It and Quit It” more.

Agreed. That was a killer way to open and I thought her whole set was really good

I believe they said something along the lines of “we rehearsed a bunch of covers with special guests—we don’t have the special guests but we’re going to play some of the covers for you anyway”

Absolutely loved Sylvan Essos set. It was a lot more gorgeous than it was dancy but that was a nice surprise. Brittany fucking slayed, and I was grateful that it was as good as I hoped it would be. Not to date myself, but Phoebe bummed me out. I enjoyed it at parts, but it was tough to see a show like hers after Sylvan Esso and Brittany Howard. It went from a high energy fun night to kind of a bummer but with sing alongs.

I definitely thought Phoebe was the least good, but as someone who saw her at tiny venues in her early days it’s impressive how she commands a crowd that size

Easily the best set of the night. I got some killer shots of her on my Instagram story. @nicklphoto
Really fun night, all sets were good. Maybe it was just cause I was really close, but I wish all the vocals were louder, especially Phoebe since her voice is kind of the focus. I couldn't make out a lot of individual elements well.
It was really cool seeing the WITH setup, but at the same time it made me decide I actually just prefer the standard duo. A little more fun and hard hitting. They didn't play any of the songs I was really hoping for either (Uncatena, Play It Right, Slack Jaw, What If, Free, Make It Easy), but still had a great time! Not trying to complain lol, just my observations.
I'm not sure I'd say Phoebe's set was the best, but I was feeling it the most, so I don't mind that it was last. I Know the End was a fitting closer.
All in all was just super happy to be seeing some artists I love. Had a big smile on my face, especially seeing Sylvan Esso and how joyous they looked to be playing.
