I got into the Pod 2 area, and the field in front on Thursday afternoon. It was just barely wet at all. I think if they delayed entry til then they could have pulled it off. Its just a matter of who they would have pissed off between the DOT and just having ~80k people just in a holding pattern for an additional 24-48 hours.

So it goes.
Also worth noting that they had added additional camping areas in the Pod 10/11 area, so between the reduced capacity from refunds and spreading out camping according to the most usable areas, it would have worked. I think they basically made the right call at the wrong time. It should have been made much earlier before many people began travel, or just making continued announcements of monitoring ground conditions plus staggered entry (Original Tuesday entries actually go in late Wednesday, Wednesday entries begin early Thursday, etc.). And as they get a better idea of headcount, mitigate properly. Earlier in the week it looked like they were not doing anything at all to mitigate, which I dont know because of lack of resources, or lack of effort.
I woulda missed Goose at Roo because I'd never miss MMJ. But after this past weekend, I'm a Goosehead. They killed it at 4848 Fest. Lotta Roo castaways camping at 4848. Great experience.

I mean
As it turns out, no you wouldn't have
didn't think about that. MMJ would've cancelled roo, so late in the game that it's unlikely roo would've had a LN Which replacement, which would've made Goose and the other late night sets super packed. would've been frustrating.
So no one realized that MMJ would not have been there to do their 3 hour late night set? That’s the first thing that hit me when they canceled their Georgia show.
*deeply sighing for one last time* hey does anyone know if My Morning Jacket cancelling their Alpharetta show would imply that they wouldn’t have played Bonnaroo either?

honestly as soon as i decided to take the refund i think the portion of my brain that thinks about bonnaroo shut down in order to protect me. was replaced with anxiety about plane travel to denver (which went great thank you southwest direct flights).

I had like 36 hours of depression and shock from Tuesday to Wednesday night. Then went camping on Thursday and Friday, saw a show Saturday. That helped, but it all still feels unreal in some way.
But holy shit, what an insane trauma to go through. I tried to explain to my boss that it was like Christmas getting canceled, but I don't think you know unless you know.
I was supposed to go to Coachella 2020, and I said for over a year that was "the one that got away." But that was canceled 6 weeks out. This one hurt WAY worse. Its really unlikely I get to go to Roo 2022, but maybe the universe will slide in that direction. Who the hell knows.
I guess I'll keep checking this board cause what else am I going to do?

I would have agreed this time last Thursday but after hearing how Elements went I'm not so sure.

My group and I went camping as well, it dulled the pain but now that I'm back to reality this is the most depressed I've been during Covid times. Getting within 24 hours only to have to go back to 6 more months until my next music festival is just too much.
Was lucky enough to go camping with a crapload of awesome inforoo/bonnaroo people and feel like I may have had an even better time than if I had gone to Bonnaroo, shockingly.

That's awesome! I hope to be close enough one day to inforoo people to be able to pull something like that off. I've got to say on a positive note I'm so happy to see how many people were able to pivot and find something fun to do.

I got MMJed in Atlanta but caught Mdou Moctar there Saturday and drove to Charlotte for Primus on Sunday. First real time I've spent in ATL since I moved last summer and got to see a bunch of folks I don't see anymore and eat/drink my way around my favorite spots in the city. Got back home to NYC at like midnight and am completely exhausted so it's almost like I went to Bonnaroo. Turned out to be as good of a weekend as it could've been considering the circumstances and hope you all also had a fun time doing whatever you all pivoted to.

in this scenario I would’ve just gotten MMJ tickets when they were rescheduled and seen Marc / Goose.

Well I may have called it a night after Marc had there been no MMJ. But the point of my post was that Goose was awesome live, and the cancellation of Roo set me up to see them. Little nuggets of positivity shining on this past weekend!

Just saw where Incubus announced a COVID case and cancellation of a couple dates on 9/4. They would've missed as well as MMJ... would've been a helluva hole on Which Stage from 9:45pm - 3:30am.

my bonnaroo benefits: i remember now that deadmau5 mixes his tracks super clean, surprised he still has such a good ear after years of performing in loud clubs. discovered mdou moctar. appreciate rufus du sol more than i used to. learned to enjoy tipper and detox unit and have separated them in my mind from the greater "bass music" genre.
so some good points but the vast majority of artists i was looking forward to weren't discoveries (or re-discoveries), they were acts i already enjoyed.

I also should add that much of the good times had by all were directly made possible by Druid's apple pie, so she deserves much of the thanks
Well this was definitely the low point of the week for me. ^^^ Felt stranded and pretty unsure what to do after the entire reason I just traveled across the country got cancelled immediately upon landing, but thanks to many of you gorgeous people I ended up having a great and unforgettable weekend anyway
Thanks to Insane Cum Posse and trantsgiving for picking me up and housing me for a night and throwing a party so i could see the atlanta crew and letting my destroy trantsgiving in Fifa. party was p funny since everyone was pretty sad about the cancellation.
Thx to Dan808 and his crew for securing an amazing cabin in the mountains of Tennessee with like 12 hours notice on Labor Day weekend that was big enough to "fit" like 19 people in. was a ton of fun to basically groop camp with a bunch of strangers like Bonnaroo would have been anyway and I love Dan
thx to Jake Jortles and his crew of angels for hanging out with me all week. I'm glad they forced me to go to the Marc Rebillet show despite me not being the biggest fan because it was a great time and it was nice to at least say we experienced one live show this weekend which also had amazing Bonnaroo crowd vibes. Was also cool to explore the greatest city in America with these guys, great people.
It was also great that @radiatebased drove out to Chattanooga to hang for the weekend and experience the Bonnaroo vibes at Rebillet with us, so glad he decided to do that.
Thx Jeremy Fragrance for still taking the plunge to come hang for the week despite not actually knowing a single one of us and rolling with the punches the whole time with a smile on his face. only 9 months till we get to do an actual festival together
Thx Cookin' Mama for being my MVP and driving 2 hours out of the way to pick me up and basically drive me around half the southern USA and also for not being mean when i destroyed your grandma blanket and sitting in the hot tub with me for probably 20+ hours this week.
I was definitely getting excited to see a lot of y'all I haven't been able to meet up with in years back at Bonnaroo which was a huge loss but I think this whole thing definitely gave me the itch to try again to return to Bonnaroo one of these years. <3, Me
