Bonnaroo 2021 Lineup Discussion Thread

Headed up to Resonance Festival tomorrow. Still having ptsd from Roo , I haven’t fully wrapped my head around that it’s tomorrow. Excited to see Tipper and Detox Unit. Also Daft Punk…..tribute set by Papadosio. If anyone’s going to be there also lmk!

They did a Gorillaz set last year (2019) which was fun. My last fest is my first one back. Should be cold and damp but at this point idgaf, gimme a field and live music.

So they had Sylvan Esso on the What pod. They didn't want to give up too much info about their SJ but it was gonna be a wedding reception theme with each guest singer doing three songs that they would've liked to have performed at a reception. The covers they did at their Roo sponsored show were on the setlist but not necessarily sung by the person that they were rehearsing with.

They were totally cool with the cancelation and sound game to come back. That they wouldn't talk about their guests or the rest of the set seems to support that.

They also said that their biggest issues getting guests - and they mentioned that there were some big asks - was that a lot of acts were also doing Bottle Rock. (Someone with more time on their hands than me can figure out the crossover acts and who might've still been in play.)

They also didn't like that it seems to have become a competition to see who can get the biggest names in their jam.

Also explains why they did “Shout” since before they performed it Jason Schatz said that he performed it at Nick and Amelia’s wedding.

as if any Bonnaroo performances of Shout could be better than either TfF themselves or the incredible Bernhoft version

A lot. Only 3 slow rush songs? No is it true? Nangs and Gossip should both be dumped imo. I’m going to see them at Firefly and this set list dampens the excitement somewhat.

Yeah just saw that. That's really surprising that there's less TSR songs than Currents and even Lonerism. The structure is odd too. The first 7 songs are all TSR and Lonerism, then second half is all Currents + 1 Innerspeaker song.

Now thinking people def would have been disappointed in the Roo set considering it was even 15 minutes shorter than this one. Probably would have axed Mind Mischief, Nangs, and maybe Expectation if I had to guess. Closing with New Person again would have been a bit of a bummer too.

I'm definitely tired of Nangs live at this point, especially since that's the one song they even kept the same visuals for, but I gotta admit I want to see Mutant Gossip live with the huge ring. It's a pretty awesome way to fully show it off for the first time in the show.

Wow that set list is underwhelming

They went from 20 songs in their normal setlist to 14 songs. I was guessing their tour was about an hour and 45 minutes long so this is a much bigger difference than I expected. Maybe they started late or something?  

Yeah, the cuts would have been brutal. At least seeing Expectation would be great. Though that would probably be one of the extra cuts too.
