Hey, so, weird question: This lineup is so fantastic for my wife’s and my personal taste that we are considering making it my first Roo and her first in seven years. The biggest hangup is that we’re in the middle of a whole IVF process, and so there’s a chance she could be 3-4 months pregnant at the time. With the weather, the living conditions (we’d go VIP and maybe rent an RV with friends for maximum AC options, but still), and the lack of access to medical care if something were to arise, there’s some concern that it wouldn’t be viable.
So, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience either being, or being with someone who was, decently (like, end of first trimester or beyond) pregnant at the festival. Would you recommend? Advise against?
The safest move, obviously, is not to go, but we’re both huge live music fans and Tool is her favorite band in the world, so the siren song is strong. Any insight ever so appreciated.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I haven't been to a music festival while pregnant, but I have done both separately lol. I think 3-4 months would be fine, barring any unforeseen complications! Second trimester was easy street for me. No more "morning" sickness (typically), no swelling or physical discomfort that comes in the third trimester, etc... RV would be great for making sure she gets enough rest, as that's one thing she'll need throughout her whole pregnancy, plus it will give her a cool space to retreat to if she feels like she needs it.
It sounds like a great "baby moon" for you both before you're tied down for a bit.

Good luck <3
morning sickness and swelling and physical discomfort sounds like a typical bonnaroo for a non-pregnant bonnaroovian anyway.

First and most importantly, congrats on deciding to grow your family! I hope the process goes as smoothly as possible for you and your wife.
I have attended Bonnaroo pregnant twice - very pregnant - and camped GA both times. In 2016, I was 7 months and in 2018 I was 6 months. 6 was easier than 7 and I do think the second trimester is pretty magical compared to first and third. These were my 6th and 7th Bonnaroos respectively, so I had a really good idea of what to expect going into things. If she hasn’t been in 7 years, your wife will definitely appreciate upgrades to the farm like increased shade and bathrooms!
All the advice that people generally give to newbies about staying hydrated and having extra shoes to rotate and things like that apply for pregnant mamas. I also had to readjust my own expectations about how many things I’d be able to see and do. Your body just needs so much more rest to grow that person, so I ended up doing things like sitting down at the LCD show. That made me feel defeated at times, but it was better than missing the festival entirely. Gatorade chews were a great hydration boost for me.
Every body is different, but I do think I would have struggled with fatigue much more the first two to three months of my pregnancies. The first trimester is just so exhausting. I had some serious cramping the first time I went pregnant from overexerting myself and that was scary, but rest and water sorted me out. My first baby also got pissed at the Lolawolf show because I was too close and it was v loud, so she kicked the crap out of me and I backed out of the tent.
It sounds like you two are considering VIP or RV, but it might be worth emailing the family camping staff - even if you aren’t utilizing that space - to see whether they have any other tips on ways to make your wife more comfortable. She should also check in with her midwife or OB - they might not know Roo but will know more specifically to her health whether the heat and walking will be an issue. And doing conditioning now - lots of walking or jogging - before she conceives will help!
Please feel free to PM any time if either of you have other or specific questions! I hope you’re able to make it and that she can have a blast at Tool!
