Loved the Roo lineup we received today, our crew will definitely be returning. That being said, it did feel like it was lacking in the indie/art pop/Chillwave (It’s actually 2010 again). With Exit 111 not returning this year and Livenation presumably looking to squeeze a little extra juice out of the lemon it seems liked they would have a lot of crossover interest without the risk of too much canibalization of each other’s demographic; especially give the absence of some obvious fits for Roo’s lineup this year.
Big Thief Angel Olsen Phoebe Bridgers St. Lucia HAIM Of Monsters & Men St. Vincent Grimes Local Natives Empire of the Sun Grizfolk Parcels Passion Pit Allvvays Lucy Dacus Men I trust Barrie The Japanese House Weyes Blood FKJ Washed Out Toro y Moi Neon Indian Poolside Tycho Khruagbin (Leon plz bring to Roo somehow) Ocean Alley (Slight outlier, big fan though)
Potential Headliners:
Paul Simon (He does still do one offs) Frank Ocean (Lol) Jenny Lewis Janelle Monae Bon Iver (May be considered too soon) Big Red Machine (Alternatively?)
By no means a comprehensive list of options, and obviously some of these may be wishful thinking more than anything - but this what I came up with at lunch as I avoid heading back to work. I’m definitely not the first person to have this idea, but something like this would get me to Manchester in an instant.
