Hello friends! It's been a long while! The line up looks great IMO and I think I'm going to make a go of it this year. I haven't been to Roo since 2015 BUT Looking at the temp map on the website there's no tents only section delineated from the rest of the car camping. Does anyone know if they've decided to kill it this year? I also noticed where BFE camping used to be, where they used to quarantine those of us who showed up on Wed to get a spot in TO, just says "Where in the woods". If there is no TO area across the street from the new Squarch I'm not so sure I want to go. Having a spot where my friends could put their crap and bounce in and out of centeroo w/ out having to hike allll the way back to our cars as well as a central meet spot was pretty key to the Bonnaroo experience. Did they nix it?

Edit: misspelled squarch
The map is “temporary,” but they have responded to a comment that makes it sound like TO is still gonna be there, just farther away from last year’s Squarch entrance. In the same reply they mention that if it doesn’t work out then things may go back to how they were.
As fer ol’ POD 1/BFE it was used as the volunteer and vendor campin’ fer a few years, startin’ in maybe ‘15-‘16 I think. Then last year I believe it was partially used fer GA and volunteer. So I imagine some of it will depend on attendance this year.

Where'd you get this responce from? I'm proper out of the loop. I've been eyeballing Bonnaroo over the past couple of years like a new M. Knight Shyamalan movie (is it really going to blow me away or will I feel fucked?). If by further away they mean on the outskirts of pod 7 then that defeats the point of TO. Back when we wore onions on our belts for Phish you hauled your shit to TO in order to be closer to Centeroo, it was a giant pain in the ass but the payoff was worth it! Why bother if your only a little better off then pods 10 & 11?

Of all the years & line ups for them to choose to do some shit like this with the possibility of walking it back next year. Primus, Oyesterhead, TOOL and others. "If things don't work out"...What does that even mean?
I'd love to go this year but when I consider how much I'll spend on airfair, booze, food (i.e. booze), logistics & funyuns I think checking out these bands regionally would be the better deal. I feel like I sound like a grouchy old man. Perhaps I am!
Pod 1 has been volunteer and GA camping since at least 2014. That's when I did the Bonnaroo Externship and we posted up at the entrance to Pod 1 and put all the c'roo members down there. Then when GA started arriving on Weds they camped people in whatever space was left over from c'roo.
I always thought "bfe" referred to pods 10, 11 & 12 🤷🏻♀️
Yea, I was in 11 my first year (2013). That shit suuuucked
‘13 was Eminem’s first appearance, yeah? Pretty sure we were out in the now non-existent POD 13 in I think Camp Stewie Griffin. Almost a two mile walk to CenteROO I think.

No, Em was 11, Paul was 13.
I believe this is the right map for 2013. I was basically exactly where the pod 10 marker is (I think!). I want to say it was Pod Ophelia, but I could be making that up. The quality of this map is so shit I can't read anything on it.

Right on. The years all blend together nowadays. Anyway in ‘11 my friends and I were in the upper right most corner of that map in I think Camp Stewie Griffin.

Damn, they finally moved TO. That sucks, but at least they didn't get rid of it completely. I'm 100% certain they don't give a damn about those of us who don't want to walk miles and miles multiple times a day to get to the former site of the arch (RIP). They have to maintain some sort of tent only area available for people who take the shuttle bus in or get dropped off. If we want to arrive separately and camp together there's a paid option for that, of course. Camped farther away = less likely to go back to camp = more likely to spend $$$ on beer and food. Or there's VIP. Or Platinum. Or First Born Child. Everything is a money grab. (LOL GA+)
Last year I was sent so far up in 10 or 11 that I was in an area I didn't even know they used - beyond some power lines, behind a tree line, and down a little hill in a semi-secluded field. I'd peen in Pod 10 twice before but this felt like punishment. I don't know how 2wd cars would have gotten out of there if it had gotten even a bit muddy.
Oh, and I think Where In The Woods is across the road from VIP where they had the Roll Like A Rockstar setup, not where Pod 1 BFE was.

Yeah I think I'm going to pass. Sucks but I'd have to fly somewhere from Portland to meet up with friends who I'm trying to convince TO is awesome. Now that TO sucks regarding it's location none of those Friends plan on going. Such a killer line up! I've already got tickets to see Tool and the F'Lips are playing here in a couple of months.
No thanks Bonnaroo but I would have gone had TO still been where it belongs (IMO just outside the squarch). Hopefully Oysterhead plays in my neck of the woods. Seeing individual shows vs the logistics of a successful Roo for me make it clear "Ticketmaster says FUUUCK YOU! " So fuck 'em back, What can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
