Do we have any idea how next week is going to go? Will it just be a pure LS episode? How many queens will sashay away? Will we see that damn golden candy bar?

Yes, it's all lip syncs. Deja does some kind of winners lip sync and then everyone else competes with each other in groups until a final elimination. Sort of like a more convoluted version of the lip sync episode in AS6.

Eeeeee so excited! Silky's Barbie Girl LS lives rent free in my head, so that sounds great.
ok well I guess that Deja lipsyncing by herself thing was either cut or didn't happen. but thank god we got another solid 10 minutes of Deja/Jasmine drama at the beginning of the episode!
I found myself fast forwarding a lot through this. So much of this episode felt procedural as opposed to the lipsync tournament episode in AS6, I think because the format was three times as complicated and the lipsyncs were three times less compelling, something which I think was best exemplified by Willow saying she was excited that she could lipsync to a Luther Vandross song because it was the one she felt she could camp it up the most to, which, what the fuck?
It wasn't all bad; the 3-way lipsync between Jorgeous/Angeria/Camden was a lot of fun, I'd never heard "Swept Away" before and that was a banger, and.....actually, that's it. Not a lot going on this week, but at least someone finally went home though.

Yo if anyone is bored and looking for some fun. Post anything to twitter challenging Jorgeous’ amazingness. The teeny boppers go crazy and I’m having a gay old time.

All things considered, this wasn't a bad roast. Most people did pretty good, I often found myself laughing at Jorgeous and Daya's more absurd moments even if they weren't funny, and Deja was there too.
I do say pretty good though because I don't think anyone really did great and I can't believe Ross was the first one to point this out during judging at the end: there's gotta be some form of exaggeration or subversion in order to make the jokes land! That's really what it's all about, forget the whole "you need a punchline" non-advice Michelle and Dulce gave or the "Were you having fun up there tonight?" group therapy trick Ru tried pulling on everyone. I mean, there's still a reason I remember Alaska's "RuPaul is so old the Hindenburg disaster nearly destroyed her bat mitzvah" and Detox's "Leslie Jordan, you are gayer than Fire Island production of Rent" jokes from *years* ago! (or hell, even Kandy's "Drag Race is the olympics of drag...and bitch, you're the stadium" line from last season!!) Although, in their defense, it's hard to have seven queens on stage all trying to make different variations on the same joke about Ross being a bottom.
Speaking of, honestly, what a relief to have two queens gone tonight after weeks of little to no action happening. I think Daya got lucky tonight, "good 4 u" is maybe one of the only songs Jorgeous's style doesn't work with and all Daya had to do was emote just a tiny bit to win, which, well, she did, and Deja was also there too. see you all next week for the always inessential music video challenge!
Bosco's tutu look blew me away from head to toe. The best she's ever looked imo. I knew if we saw another corset & panties Michelle was gonna stroke out lol.
I do think the two who went home went at the right time, and I was also very glad it was a double sashay since it feels like it's been months since anyone went home.
In retrospect, I think AS2 is my favorite season of Drag Race. It took a group of incredibly talented queens and really mixed up the format in ways both subtle (more meta jokes, putting the reading challenge first, the talent show) and not-so-subtle (bringing the eliminated queens back, having the queens eliminate each other) that gave us some really compelling challenges and storylines (the Rolaskatox return, Alaska's meltdown with Katya, Phi Phi growing out of her villain reputation only to have it crash down a second time). Of course, though, the formula's gotten pretty stale by now: there's very few actual unique talents on display in the talent show anymore, the reads are getting too meta, and they're really just having everyone they can think of come back again as they start running out of queens (although this is also how we got Sonique back so I can't fully complain).
But finally! All Stars gets shaken up again for one time and probably one time only to give us another incredibly promising start! All 8 queens on the cast are massively talented and provide a great balance between each others' strengths and weaknesses...but they also don't really have any weaknesses. In both episodes, I think only two queens got genuine critique....and both were for Snatch Game. But that also makes the points format perfect, if not a little complicated. Nobody really wants to see any of these queens leave, it was almost certainly in their contracts that they would have multi-episode deals, and this way everybody wins. Anyway, because of the circlejerk of compliments that was going on after the song-and-dance number in episode one, I don't really have any comments on that other than Monet sounded really good. But the Naomi Campbell runway instruction was really cool, and seeing Shea get speechless was emotional! And then of course 45 minutes later we get to see her do an incredible lip sync to *that* song. The bigger music budget was also getting stale, but now that each season has a million lip syncs I'm glad the music supervisors are getting weirder and weirder with their choices.
Anyway, Snatch Game. Holy shit! How good was that? Monet turning Alaska's "Why don't you come on up and fuck me in the ass sometime?" joke into a complete character with Mike Tyson of all people, Trinity turning Satan into an insanely annoying twink, Yvie turning the Boogeyman into a 70s pimp, and then maybe my two favorite characters in Snatch Game ever. First, the obvious: Jinkx's Judy Garland. I mean, come on. The overly literal persona, the drugged-out speech affectation, the jazzy renditions of RuPaul songs...all perfect. And then my other favorite: Jaida as Prince! I know the judges hated it because it wasn't accurate enough, but 1) it...kind of was? and 2) even if it wasn't, she was clearly doing the Dave Chappelle/PrinceTweets2U cartoon version of Prince that works perfectly as a comedic character. And she absolutely nailed the physical comedy of the absurd sexiness of the guy who once took a photo of himself lying on top of a watercolor set in a literal steaming motel room. I was dying laughing at every lip quiver.
And we're only two episodes in! Not saying the past seasons have been disappointing, they haven't, but it's going to be refreshing to see this group of queens deliver on the caliber of talent and looks episode after episode that we're promised by the words "All Stars"! Honestly it's nice to actually get excited and surprised watching this show again.
edit: oh also as a non-spoiler, I honestly would love to have Ru's tiger striped sequin jacket and the watercolor suit from these episodes.

I am soooooooooo excited about this season so far! It's just what the world needs right now. Top tier drag.
I freaking love that no one is going home! It's much less annoying than all the saves and double shantays etc to just know everyone is staying put. I wonder if this new format will continue over into the regular seasons?
AND Bob doing the Pit Stop means I will finally make a point to religiously watch the pit stop <3
loving this season so far, but was yvie always this corny? also these queens make me feel like my skin is made of salami, they're so smooth and beautiful.

LOL @ salami skin. And yeah I feel like Yvie has always been pretty corny!
Are you watching Bob on the pitstop? I was mad he wasnt on the season but this is a perfectly good setup to have him review the episodes every week with a guest.
that whole challenge was...bizarre (and that's not even considering the confusing animal sexiness!). It's clear that the contestants are given some sort of guideline to structure their performance so that there's a story, but unlike previous challenges in a similar vein, this one just felt like a scripted acting challenge with tiny bits of physical comedy thrown in. I've seen a lot of people complain that Yvie or Raja should've been in the top over Jinkx or Vivienne, but they were the only ones that had any clear improvisational comedy at all, with Jinkx's recovery from her ear falling off and the Vivienne's constantly changing accents. Add in the fact that very few people had any actual jokes and the whole thing just kind of fell flat. (It got cut out but I think my biggest laugh was the Vivienne's "It's funny because it's a donkey.")
The runway was maybe my overall favorite from this season so far. I love Jaida's makeup, Jinkx's porcupine coat was a fun twist on the old (old, old) school Hollywood outfits she's been committed to so far, and I'm still thinking about Trinity's over the top Dracula-in-Beauty-and-the-Beast look. But two things: 1) why does nobody have any negative critiques? I don't even think they're editing them out! I know these guys are all professionals, but...did everybody really think Monet did a good job in that challenge?? 2) why are these lip syncs so boring? The Vivienne definitely pulled out (the xylophone) the win there, but I feel like all these numbers have been pretty halfhearted so far? Which is a shame, because the song choices have been really good!
Still a fan of this season, but I think you could see the limits of this format show a little bit in this episode.

Do both top conststants get a star (if they're unblocked)? I seem to think they do, and if so is there any benefit to winning the LS other than the $10,000 prize? Maybe they're not trying that hard because it's a double edged sword to plunge someone.

That's been my biggest complaint this year. No one is pushing themselves to a higher ceiling because there's been no criticism. I want to see someone get ripped into then come out even better the following week. Feels like everyone is just going with the motions since there's no real stakes of leaving just yet.

I'll take that over manufactured critiques that aren't always warranted. I feel like every season, its already happened this season, as soon as queens can break their NDA, a light is shone on something that wasn't actually real but just produced to be that way. MKD in season 7 comes up a lot on Drag Pods that her elimination might've just been a result of them being out of story for her. Or this season if there were eliminations you know they would've given Shea shit for her before and after look which she's revealed on twitter had a shady prompt.

I’m enjoying Rupaul’s Celebrity Drag Race on VH1. We are on episode 2. It’s like Drag Race meets Masked Singer. The celebs are pretty easy to identify, though.
had written up some long commentary but ProBoards ate it up and I'm certainly not writing all that out again. so, to be brief: cast pretty good, judging accurate, either make the talent show a lipsyncing contest or forbid anyone from doing it at all, if Salina says "quinceañera"/Aura flexes/anyone says "walk that duck" one more time I will explode, really excited to learn about basic human social interaction along with the twins.

Agree with all of this except people can say walk that fucking duck as much as they want because that shit was iconography.
