For the glut of Drag Race we had in the past year, I gotta say, it does feel good to be back for the only show on television that features a lip sync to Enya that ends with a toaster being thrown in a bathtub followed a couple minutes later by Lizzo making KKK jokes.
First of all, I want to make a defense of Willow's looks - it takes serious balls for someone to come on this show on look ugly on purpose. Repeatedly. As someone who resents this "himbo" trend that's kind of popped up in gay social media circles, I appreciate that Willow is genuinely (or at least very good at passing as genuinely) stupid. I love her.
Kornbread was also my other favorite of the night - her looks were great and she oozes charisma. Plus, she's got a super expressive face, which makes for great TV.
As for the others - idk. There was a lot of criticisms of the 'details' of people's performances in the talent show that really could've just been explained in a different way: they were kind of boring. June's dance was kind of boring. Bosco's burlesque routine was kind of boring. Kerri's jump rope routine was kind of boring. Alyssa's rock lipsync sucked.
Speaking of Alyssa - the whole "I didn't understand who you were!" criticism felt stupid. She's a look queen who likes rock music! (although I did not appreciate hers and the judges' constant references to that Halestorm song as metal. Like, not to gatekeep, but come on. She could've *at least* done an Emma Ruth Rundle number. [an aside to an aside - I often wonder why RPDR hasn't increased their prize money, it turns out the reason is because the show's entire budget is blown on lip sync songs now).
So, maybe Alyssa should've lipsynced, maybe she shouldn't have, but I think overall Orion clearly did the poorest out of everyone; however, I will give her credit, she really held her own in that lipsync. But, also, come on, it feels pretty obvious she's going to come back, right? I mean, they've done that same shit two seasons in a row now.
Actually, now that I say that, I am looking a bit less forward to this. Hope you all are ready for the next six months of this!
Really grateful these queens are still holding up signs encouraging people to register to vote at the end of the episode. It’s so important that we all vote in the 2021 midterms. <3
Last week, all the critiques of the talent show performances revolved around “Did you show your entire personality?” And this week it was “But is it drag?” which explains why Angeria won. If this show had a definition of what a drag performance is, it’s “doing a B+ lipsync to a D- electro house song” (that gown was gorgeous though). I was way more intrigued by Lady Camden and Maddy: they at least did something different (tongue showing or not!).
But…overall, in spite of what the judges appeared to think, I liked these performances better than last week. The judges were half right: lip syncing is overrated as a talent. But also, for better or worse, it’s why people go to see drag queens in the first place! Lol
Not a lot of opinions otherwise. A couple moments I laughed at: the brief Debarge musical tease when they showed Crystal Methyd’s picture, Maddy’s “Old Spice” read of Lady Camden, Lady Camden shaking her bra full of tic tacs, Alicia Keys silently and expressionlessly nodding to the lipsync of her song. Still don’t have a favorite out of the 14 (though, having watched both episodes, Kornbread is still the one to beat imo), so I can’t say I was too upset about Daya leaving. Sorry, not to gatekeep again, but Daya…you’re inspired by the “80s grunge” movement? Fuck straight people: if this show wanted to showcase all demographics equally, they’d have a queen on that actually knows stuff about rock music.
None of that shit was resort wear. None of that shit was bridal wear. I agree Willow deserved to win because that black leopard print gown was gorgeous, but I feel like anyone else could've gone home. Wasn't a huge June fan (sorry ) so I wasn't sad she went, but it seems Maddy is skating on thin ice. I mean...it should not be hard to beat a straight person in a Kylie Minogue lipsync. And yet!

Was anyone else (besides me and Kornbread) annoyed they brought back the two eliminated queens immediately? Like I'm glad they get more time but what was the point of the eliminations in the first place? Also I 100% thought the episode would end with a double sashay because neither did very well.
My early favorites are: Kornbread, Willow Pill, Kerri Colby

The chocolate bars are just the producers way of saving a queen they don't want to go home. It's so obviously fake. They need a way to keep a queen they like without redoing the Art Simone debacle.

100% that shit is gonna be rigged. Why not just incorporate a save like they do on project runway?
Honestly, aside from its outcome, this episode was really good! I don't think anybody was really bad in the challenge and the challenge itself was a lot of fun, and I think the only person whose outfit I didn't like was Deja Skye's (on an unrelated note: how the fuck did Kerri get the original version of that dress?).
Even the judging itself wasn't bad - I probably wouldn't have picked Angeria as the winner, but she did well enough to deserve and some combination Kornbread/Kerri/Alyssa was probably right for the bottom three. But then......Alyssa lost that lipsync just because her prop failed unexpectedly? That seemed to be it, because she was running circles around Kerri prior to that and even after that gun didn't blow out any money right away, she still had a great recovery with it work two seconds later and then picking up the cash off the floor and throwing it in the air. I thought sending her home for that performance was wrong.
Anyway, at the very least I'm kind of excited to see Tempest, Jaymes, and Kahmora come back next week! For all its faults, this show does do a good job of honoring its contestants who don't do too well on the show but still remain professional entertainers.

I was wondering about Kerri's dress too! She must have some serious connections.
I'm going to miss seeing Alyssa's cute little talking head segments. It also must be such a bummer to be the first one to have to actually leave, even though you survived two other "eliminations"
I usually hate the blink and you miss it celebrity cameos on this show but I can’t believe they actually got Sarah McLachlan to be a part of this week’s challenge lmao.
Obviously, it was utter bullshit that Jorgeous won that challenge, and it seems that everybody including the producers except for RuPaul was aware of that. This was the first time this season I really disagreed with the judging - obviously, Maddy did bad, but so did Jasmine, Deja, and even Willow and Kerri imo!
Buuuutttt Jasmine obviously did better in that lipsync (even if Maddy came close to holding her own with a Bendalecreme-doing-"Anacaonda" style thing so in the end the outcome probably wouldn't have changed. I became weirdly endeared to Maddy even though I didn't think I would be, and she'll probably do great when she comes in the middle of the pack on whatever All-Stars season they bring her back for. Until then...see you all next week for whatever the fuck the challenge is going to be.
After last week's ridiculousness, it was nice to have a fun, breezy episode. Basically all Drag Race acting challenges should be 80s soap operas with tons of fart jokes in them. I mean, come on. And the runways were all really good too; I was on the phone with my sister during the runway portion so I didn't even notice Willow's hair hands until the judges pointed it out! Glad Lady Camden won, that lipsync was perfect (not sure why Daya was going for a more...smoldering performance on a song as fast and silly as that, but oh well, it wasn't bad). Just a lot of fun. No notes (just like Bosco's performance next week, it looks like)!
You know, the thing about Snatch Game is that, historically, a solid 75% of the performances minimium haven't been good. They may get a joke or two but that's about it. Remember season 3 when Stacy Layne Matthews won Snatch Game as Mo'nique by just making one or two "I'm hungry" jokes? Honestly, that whole thing was less funny than this. At least here you had people trying. Sometimes, though, trying isn't everything. And tonight, it wasn't everything for...uh, everybody.
I saw some pushback on Deja's performance but I'd still put it in the 25% of good performances. Her outfit though? Really, really meh. Should've won it all last week for the Chanel thing and her panel performance, but oh well. In spite of my undying hatred of astrology, I have to admit, I really liked Jasmine's gown tonight. That was....about it. Hopefully we'll get some resolution on why Daya feels the need to be a huge bitch to Jasmine all the time, because although I laugh at it once an episode, it's growing pretty thin. There's been better episodes this season, but I think this lipsync smackdown will really deliver.

I am a rare person who does not like Deja at all, though. That Lil Wayne thing was so annoying after the first time she did it. I really think if Rupaul had not found it so funny, no one else would have. Her outfit was horrible, too.
Her saying something to the effect of “I’m in the bottom… with jasmine?!” Was tv gold.
I feel like if it wasn't ALL she did, I would find it funnier if it was just sprinkled in at times. But since it's constant salt she just seems more like bitter betty than daya betty. Its like she's Crystal's evil twin at this point lol.
