I have some time to kill waiting for a concert to start, si I might as well use this time. Last Saturday was a really long but fun experience. I was in line to get in at around 3 pm, and it was already a long line. They started taking GA people in at 4 pm, and I grabbed a good seat in the balcony as soon as I got in (no assigned seats). It promptly started at 5 pm, with the introductory runway of the top 4, followed by the rest of the queens. During MIB’s runway walk, a crew member approached our row and we could go to orchestra section as some seats opened up. I rushed down very quickly, and found a good spot in the back left section, with one of the pit crew members sitting in front of me. Anywho, after the initial runways, a musical number backed up by eliminated queens was shot, followed by a number from Chicago musical, fronted by you-guess-who. This was followed by top 4’s individual numbers, first one being Anetra. Unfortunately during the number, one of the dancers got injured and they had to close the curtains for a while to reconfigure all the choreo. Eventually, all 4 numbers were shot (with Michelle/Ross/Carson/TS Madison entertaining people in between).
After all this, Ru has finally showed up, and they filmed a lot of scenes involving her. They revealed the top 2 advancing, and while they were changing, they shot some other scenes with Ru, and the revealing of Miss Congeniality presented by Willow & Kornbread.
This finally followed up by the lip synch for the crown, which I think was a really close call. The last thing they filmed was both crownings before they let us go, which was around 11 PM lol.
I was exhausted but it was very fun. Can’t wait for trying to find myself on TV in two weeks lol
Makes sense that everyone lost interest in commenting on this season... I think we all knew how this thing was gonna wrap up. Huge sweep. Enter All Stars 8.

I haven't read any of this thread bc of spoilers but I'm watching the lip sync extravaganza ep of s14. My predictions for the final before this were Bosco, Lady Camden, Angeria and Willow.
I watched both episodes now and I'm not really sure I have much to say. Some good changes (not doing a talent show first, thank god; the SNL thing was pretty good for an acting challenge and I kind of hope they bring it back in the future) and a lot of bad performances (Jaymes being absolute shit at the choreography in the first challenge along with someone else I can't remember; Darienne Lake's awful Billie Eilish look; Heidi and Kasha Davis already starting to grate too hard with their overemphasis on their 'brands' of "having a gap tooth" and whatever the fuck being a "workhorse queen" means, respectively). I feel bad for Monica Beverly Hillz because she clearly had something to prove but just looked so miserable the entire time, but I feel less bad for Naysha because apparently she said Jaymes deserved to be in the bottom of episode 2 instead of her and she went home to serve some sort of narrative. like...lol ok! [she's wrong about her own narrative but while Jimbo's outfit was great but it's kind of clear she won that challenge just so she could lipsync against Pangina though lol.] anyway the idea of bringing a motley crew of early outs is always intriguing but I'm not super confident this is going to work out particularly great so far (or at least, probably not until towards the end of the season). hope I'm wrong though!
Not really a huge fan of these first two episodes but I did enjoy the SNL challenge... Weird that Bowen Yang will be a special guest judge for this season but didn't sit in for that particular challenge.
1. Heidi was fucking ROBBED. I'd be heated too. I thought she was going to win, let alone to not even be in the top?! PRODUCER SHENANIGANS
2. Jojo Siwa is young and newly out and everything but omfg she grates on my last nerve. Especially when she came storming into untucked fully unaware of the vibes. She gives major homeschooled disney kid energy.

I love how Jojo Siwa harnesses the energy of a lisa frank sticker.

I think finding her absolutely exhausting is further proof I'm just OLD.
The producers/editors/etc definitely have a huge boner for Jimbo and it's a cursed season for everyone else because of it lol. It also bugs me someone can be terrible at lip synchs but excel so much in all stars.
I enjoyed snatch game of love, especially the second group!

I do agree in a sense that the producers/RuPaul like Jimbo, because Jimbo was custom built in a lab to do well at Drag Race (outside of the lipsyncs, like you said, but Bianca never had to and no one gives her shit for it)...but so is Heidi! Jimbo is a seamstress with a knack for the kind of comedy mixed with Old Hollywood references RuPaul loves that are also talents that work out great for this show but but also she doesn't have the same level of natural charisma and physicality that Heidi has. I think the bigger problem is that while Heidi is great for Drag Race, Heidi isn't great for reality TV. I'm not mad she quit. But I find the reason why more than a little silly: she spent the past four episodes trying to align with her competitors and then quit the moment she got any pushback on it? It was dumb that Kahanna came for her after the snatch game (not that I think Kahanna is long for this competition anyway if she keeps delivering the same tired-ass showgirl thing over and over again lol) but quitting because she was confronted she didn't feel joy after being confronted on a drag queen TV show where it's well known they'll have to eliminate each other? Come on!
I get why people don't want Jimbo to win. It's boring to watch someone do well in a competition over and over again and it's more fun to root for the underdog. This has especially been on my mind because the most recent season of Taskmaster just wrapped up and a lot of fans' feelings really turned against Mae Martin in recent episodes because they felt Mae wasn't sufficiently funny to deserve the prize; and while these two shows aren't exactly analogous (Drag Race boosts its contestants' careers in a way no other show does whereas on Taskmaster everyone is already a TV personality) but there's a similar arc happening right now. I'm not personally rooting for Jimbo...but won't be disappointed if she wins either.
Anyway, extremely dumb runway tonight (I honestly liked Lala Ri's a lot just because she was one of a handful who didn't get totally naked lol) but that Snatch Game was so good. I think the only person who did poorly was Kahanna, and even she got some good zingers in! I think it goes to show that while this season has a lot of contestants who don't excel in the challenges on this show, they've all got huge personalities. Shame Heidi didn't stick around to show off hers more.
I've thought about it more and I'm going to walk back a little bit here, because it also seems unlikely Heidi quit *just* because of the like ten minutes of drama that happened, but I'm going to guess it had less to do with the show itself and more with something else in her personal life. Also in retrospect I don't like Lala Ri's outfit either lol. still a good snatch game though imo!

I don't dislike Jimbo or think she shouldn't win, but Heidi being put in the safe category with the grocery episode was definitely some shenanigans. I thought she should've won or at the very least been in the top. She said she was struggling mentally and Kahana thinking she meant to hurt her intentionally was the last straw.
I am enjoying the season for sure, I just feel like unless someone takes Jimbo out soon it's going to be a real struggle for anyone else to catch up in any significant way
Idk, this whole thing has become kind of a rote bummer now. Even after my impassioned Jimbo defending last week, things were already not looking good when the episode started off with Jimbo crying about her embarrassment at her lipsyncs on this show for a solid minute followed by the briefest of brief discussions on Heidi leaving. Like ok! Guess the most major plot point of the entire season is just going to disappear right away!
And then....the challenge itself. The concept of doing a challenge based around Joan Crawford doesn't really bother me, but holy shit spending a solid 80% of it doing numbers based on bit parts from Mommie Dearest drove me nuts. I'll say it: Mommie Dearest is a pretty shitty movie, it has almost zero camp appeal outside of Faye Dunaway's look and a couple of scenes, and it's a movie about fucking child abuse!! I hate that it's remained a part of the beloved Queer Movie Canon or whatever, and it's disappointing because Joan Crawford was constantly doing campy shit up until the very end. I know you can't fully explain Joan Crawford's career or legacy without acknowledging Mommie Dearest or Christina Crawford, and I'm not saying they shouldn't have brought it up at all, but watching Kandy Muse doing a disco rendition of Joan beating Christina with a wire hanger left a sour taste in my mouth. There was so much else they could've done!
The judging was also pretty rote too. Kahanna fucked up the lipsync and looked nothing like Joan, and also nothing else like Grace Jones (I almost screamed when she came out in another fucking showgirl outfit! Just take the headdress off once, girl!). Jaymes also fucked up the world's easiest choreography, so I can't feel too bad or shocked she was in the bottom. I also wouldn't have made Kandy Muse the winner (content of the song aside); I would've given it to Alexis Michelle. But credit where it's due: Kandy delivered on that lipsync against noted lipsync assassin........................Angeria Paris VanMichaels. I'm not going to bother checking if they've repeated any LSAs in the past (gut instinct says they haven't), but they really gotta start bringing some of them back.
I like Jaymes but I'm not upset about her leaving. I am upset that Kahanna Montrese is going to be psychologically tortured for another week before she gets sent home.
LOVED Lala getting the win, I was going to lose my marbles if she didn't. The improv was hilarious and her runway was perfection.
Kind of sick of Kandy getting through no matter what she does. She's a bully, plain and simple. It's not drag banter, it's not fun, she's just mean.
Also I thought it was funny the girlies thought mama Ru stopped in because she cares so much about them. She didn't want them fucking with production of the show! can't have so many people leaving, or anyone leaving this late in the season, without serious detriment to the schedule lol.
I met Kandy Muse on Sunday. She was walking down the street here in SoBe with her mans and both me and my kid were freaking out. She took a pic with us and rapped with us for a second... Such an incredibly kind and soulful human!

Did you ask her why she's such a heartless butthole on the show?

Lolz, no. She really was very kind and genuine tho. It seems like she is aware that people consider her a villain type on the show. On her first season I felt like we got a very young unfiltered and authentic version of Kandy... This All Stars season we seem to be getting a much more produced version. I presume she thinks she's giving the people what they want and giving the cameras something juicy to film. IDK. I love her.

I'm glad you had a good experience, that must've been so fun! <3
I was gooped at that elimination. Alexis gave us one of the best lip syncs this season! Y'all im 100% sure that Nicky Doll is no lip sync assassin tho.

Nicky is a lewk queen for sure. I was honestly pissed Alexis didn't keep her word to Lala (probably also clouded by the fact that Lala is/was my favorite this season)
With Jessica Wild going home, I think its obvious that she is going to be Queen of Fame Games. She is the only rightful heir to the 3rd spot in the finale. I don't believe the fanbase will let us down on this one and that ultimately The Fame Games was just a way for all the eliminated queens to show their looks with proper amount of eyeballs on it. We finna see.

Why did we even go to final 2? Is that normal for All Stars? I have the memory of a goldfish.

No. That’s def not normal. I think they wanted to try something new to spice up this old format, but it ain’t working.
