First of all, what the fuck was going on with Ru commenting on Symone's massive, bulging inner saboteur?? That was Katya "Maybe you're addicted to your anxiety" levels of awful mental health analysis.
I love Mik but she really benefitted from being skinny tonight. That executive look was good but basically no one else could have gotten away with that final look. I think Utica should've won this challenge because that sleeping bag look was almost literally unbelievable.
I almost feel bad because Joey Jay's final look tonight was pretty good! I say I almost feel bad because she spent all five (which, unrelated, but it's not even February and this is episode 5!!!!) episodes unironically talking like the Drag her! Slay her! video and it was deeply annoying. Lala Ri's looks may have been consistently awful but at least she comes across as 1) a real human being and 2) a phenomenal lip sync performer.
On a totally unrelated note, I've been watching this season on a Twitch stream where during commercial breaks and before the episodes the audience votes on music videos to be played. This week, this resulted in both this hilarious Disney Channel Original Song getting played and, when Jessie Ware's "Spotlight" getting played, people trying to skip it as fast as possible arguing that Jessie Ware is a Zionist (which, not getting into the ideology in this thread, but she's never commented on it publicly before!!) probably just to avoid listening to a slow, 5 minute song, which is extremely disappointing because it's an extremely good slow, 5 minute song!!!
edit: also, it was almost a 4-kimonos level of weirdness that Symone and Olivia brought near-identical boxing looks to the competition.
Rupaul loves that inner saboteur shit. I wish he wouldn't try to be therapist. The highlight of the episode was definitely Nicole Byer's reaction to Lala's look.

I felt bad or Olivia the moment she walked out. Symone's was so much better.

I'm really really really enjoying UK. I pretty much love every queen, even A'Whora (who I know is not a fan favorite lol).
Also think Utica should've won this week. That sleeping bag look was next level and the styling was 100% on point as well. Add in the helping with the sewing machine AND writing Joey Jay a sweet message, and I'm absolutely in love with her.
Awwww I really wanted Awhora to win this week! But Lawrence's runway was just too good.
Also WTF Ginny?! Do we think it was really a "punk" move, or did she just not want to embarrass herself with a subpar lip synch? Either way I was disappointed.
It will be interesting to see how things go after their break in filming! I think some queens might polish a bit during the break. Really hoping Tia and Bimini get some finishing touches because I love them both and that seems to be their only critiques.
There's some tea that says Ginny literally told Ru to go fuck herself, so I don't think we'll be seeing them back haha.
Even more angry A'whora didn't win this week after sleeping on it! I hate that being "too pretty" was basically the only critique they had of her runway look.

That whole thing just felt...dumb. It was a dumb challenge with dumb judging and very rarely does this happen with this show but I feel dumb for wasting 90 minutes with it.
I think Mik did the worst in the challenge personally but I have to give it to her...I loved that outfit. I'm more about disappointed about the top, Rose and Denali being omitted in favor of, like, Tina Burner felt especially egregious.
Also, as much as that was a great choice for a lip sync song, it felt ridiculous for them to have a whole disco dancing challenge and then...not have a disco song as the lip sync??
Anyway, as a final point, it felt personally bizarre to me that nobody knew about Disco Sucks; it's almost a deeply engrained part of Chicago history at this point and Steve Dahl, the DJ who organized it, was still on Chicago airwaves until two years ago! And as much as I ragged on the judges having too many esoteric references, it feels especially egregious to go on RuPaul's Drag Race and not know the difference between his favorite artist of all time (something he constantly brings up!) and fucking Donna Summer. That is ridiculous.

I think Tina ended up in the top because she looked good next to Mik and Kandy who were both pretty bad. Her dancing was competent and she at least showed some personality. Of the tops she was definitely third. I definitely agree about the lip sync song. The second the song started I started laughing about how they didn't do a disco track.
I was so happy to see when Joe came back... however, I think I wasn't that surprised to see him getting eliminated. Also, Tia needs to step her game up.
That reading challenge was fun, even if too short. I’m almost kind of shocked that that “burning tina" joke made it to air. And I know I’ve been kind of hard on her these past two weeks but Mik truly has a natural sense of humor that works really well. “Gay, trans, pug” was probably my favorite read out of all of them.
Speaking of Mik, while I think the challenge was good and everyone overall did pretty well, I thought the mime group was the most interesting. I think she absolutely nailed the affectations of a shitty cable news expert type and I’m not sure anyone else there could’ve pulled it off. The editing was weird though because they made it seem like Utica was talking too much as a bad thing when that was the whole point of the story! I’m sure that if the roles were switched, Utica would’ve also killed it as the mime and Olivia would’ve flopped as the mom.
The editing of the candle group was weird too since they tried to make Kandy seem funny when…well, you know. Symone was perfect as ever though so it didn’t matter much. And putting her name in her braids??? God damn. Don’t really feel that strongly over Olivia winning over anyone else, but Mik or Symone would've been my pick for winning that challenge.
As for the other runways, loved Utica’s bridal gown and Denali’s chandelier dress. Also, major props to Tina for trying that look almost certainly multiple times before coming on this show and thinking “Yeah, this is great”. And you know what? And this may sound like I’m trying to be snarky but I earnestly mean this: if post-Drag Race celebrity doesn’t work out, Lala could honestly make a killing as a Chaka Khan impersonator.
Anyway, can't wait for next week!! maybe a destined-to-be-awful social media-themed musical will be the thing to finally kill the musical challenges for good.
edit: also, watching untucked, what the hell is going on with only half the girls wearing face shields outside lmao???

If it were up to me: Tina would’ve been in the bottom, and maybe even bottom 2. Her runway look was not cute and her improv was very one note. Symone would have won. Her improv was great and imo her whole look was iconic. The hair was such a gag
Also, the werkroom improv was the best of the episode lol

Does anyone else follow Sibling Watchery on patreon? Bob and Monet crack me up with their video recap every week <3
For instance, Monet mentioned Lala Ri hiding from the motion sensor security light when she entered the improv scene and that made me laugh so hard when she did it. Underrated hilarity!

Sister Sister shouldn't have been safe with the iffy Snatch Game and party city fur + dildo hair runway.
Awhora 1000% didn't belong in the bottom, but my theory is that Ru was determined to send Tia home this week so she had to put her up against Lawrence (who also had a shitty snatch game) for the lip synch. If Tia had gone up against SS in the lip synch, she would've stayed.
If SS doesn't go home next week I will be shocked.
Also I LOVE Bimini and just spent an embarrassing amount of $ for one of their shirts <3
I was on a phone call during the musical so I don't have any comments on the judging but honestly I'm not sure if I spent the first half of this episode staring more at Anne Hathaway's pupils or Jamal Sim's exposed tiddies.
