Random Rona benefit - no work Holiday Luncheon this year. Obviously not worth it, but since it is what it is, might as well appreciate what I can appreciate. They’re also giving us the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve off, but there was a pretty good chance they’d have done that anyway.
I hope work pot lucks are gone forever.
You don't like eating the food people made at home the night before then brought in their car in the morning and it sits around the office until noon then everybody breathes on it?

SOMEBODY GET THE POWER STRIPS WE GOT TOO MANY CROCK POTS OVA HERE
I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for Halloween events here in Denver. Hopefully all of them are being shut down now. I really don’t want to be working grocery during the post-Halloween, pre-thanksgiving peak were about to get.

You forgot the cat hair and "my kids helped me!" boogers
Y’all must have some really shitty pot lucks. Ours are great.
I don’t really mind the food at our pot lucks. I just hate being forced to sit and eat/interact with coworkers I barely know. Also, our holiday lunch is catered and is generally just okay as far as the food goes.

Ours are fine. It helps that most properties I've worked at have been pretty multicultural.

Ours are hit and miss, I just am nervous of the food handling lol
Something that I have to periodically remind myself when something gets left out a little longer than it should be at home: just because something is in the temperature danger zone doesn't mean that it WILL cause a FBI, it's just more likely to. It's reassuring.

at my last job I had a lot of chinese and indian colleagues, so we had some great asian food at our potlucks.
also, old ladies though, so we also had basic midwestern casserole shit.
Edit: I'm really hope "family style" lunches are a thing of the past in the production office in the film industry.
Fun fact: In northern RI, there's something called "family style chicken" and a handful of restaurants cater to it. (One in particular can host over 1000 people.) Basically its all you can eat chicken, French fries, salad, and pasta.
Half of my friend group went to a karaoke bar last night. Fuck that shit! The country has its most cases ever, and they’re still going out?! Looks like I’m going to be a lonely hermit for all of winter.
I did carry out last night at the restaurant I worked at for 6 years and there was literally 0 precautions outside of staff wearing masks. We need to adjust the mask policy for eating/drinking in a massive way because in STL you can take your mask off if you’re sitting down.

So, I haven’t really gone anywhere inside since March (not even the grocery store) but my best friend’s birthday is in 2 weeks and he’s planning on renting out a theater. It would be 4 people total, wearing masks, but I’m a bit nervous about the recycled air

This has been going around today. Seems like the biggest factors are how well ventilated the place is and how long you’re in there. Also probably worth considering how your friends have been handling things. If they also haven’t been anywhere, it seems like your risk is relatively low.
People have lost their damn minds. Meanwhile I’m not even sure if o want to see friends outside with how many COVID cases are in Chicago currently.
Lockdown apathy is very real. I just realized the clubs in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami are booking EDM and house artists like Jamie Jones, i_o, 4B, Claude VonStroke (who has an entire Florida tour in November!), etc. They're even planning a version of the Sunset Music Festival for December. I just don't get it.

Living in NYC, when I read or hear about things like this, it feels like dispatches from another planet. I mean, I know people are doing all kinds of dumb shit here, too, but it's all underground/illicit. We're still at 25% capacity for indoor dining, and even still, I get a weird feeling when I go to pick up take-out or something and see people sitting inside, maskless.
On one hand, it must be really relaxing to not give a shit to the degree of all these people who are just living their lives as if it's all OK, at least until/unless one actually gets sick. But, as someone who still kind of gets freaked out being around unmasked people outdoors, it's just...I don't know how I would even do it.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
In my view, you can't blame the clubs for opening up. The real problem is A. the politicians allowing them to and B. the morons who want to go to a club right now.

So long as you put "at a safe social distance" on your show poster it's fine.

Well there's going to be 136 people at the wedding in a few weeks. So there's that. I don't even understand how that's allowed. The place can hold 400, so it must be a 50% limit or something.
