This is...a thing.
On one hand, that money could probably go to some other causes? On the other hand, I'm very intrigued as to whether this will incentivize people who haven't gotten their shot, and if it does, if other states with lower vaccination rates try something like this.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
1/17 Spafford 2/7 Greensky Bluegrass 3/17 Cool Cool Cool 3/28 Ekoostik Hookah 7/10 Jason Mraz 7/11 Chris Stapleton 7/12 Red Hot Chili Peppers 7/13 Buffalo Ska Fest
This sucks. Either make it that nobody needs to wear it indoors or everyone does. Don't put this on the honor system because, for the most part, people who haven't gotten vaccinated so far can't be trusted to wear masks voluntarily. (In my opinion.) Maybe wait until everyone is eligible to get the vaccine? You know, like children under 12? I shouldn't have to hide my kids in my house just to keep them safe from anti-mask, anti-vaccine jerks.
All the better to spread around the spike proteins we're shedding on the unsuspecting unvaccinated! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Anyhoo, this is great, and all, but it'll be a while before I feel comfortable in an indoor space that's not the private home of people I know to be inoculated without a mask on. They can have my grocery store N95 when they pry it off my cold, dead face.

I feel bad for people who can't get it for medical reasons, but I think this is the right move. The people who refuse to get vaccinated will get the virus and will deal with the consequences and potentially receive a J&J level of protection if they survive. The people who got vaccinated will be fine.

Practically all of my friends are vaxxed anyway so this isn’t the biggest stuff for me and I’ll probably keep it on indoors when at a grocery store or whatever to not be a dick to whoever has to tell me to wear a mask but this fucks so hard.

yeah I dunno if it’s because I’ve been working in the service industry during most of covid but this sounds so annoying to me. (Lifting the mandate, not your comments)

Look, I'm not one to suddenly stick my nose up at the CDC after I've been following their guidance all along - it probably is safe for us vaccinated folks - but the fact that state and county mandates take precedence over it is only going to confuse people. Hell, the fact that the CDC itself is a government agency only makes it more confusing for the public to know who to listen to. It's also going to be an excuse for some to be ruder than ever to the service industry and demand they be seated unmasked, even if they live in an area with those mandates. I consider the CDC one of our few smart government agencies, but if they've done one thing consistently wrong during this pandemic, it's their messaging.
