CDC guidance should be based on science which is what they did here. I get a lot of the concerns being raised but I'm not sure how we should address them. The CDC shouldn't be strategically misleading just to trick irresponsible people into wearing masks.
That said I still think it is appropriate for states, cities and even business to require masks in situations where they can't confirm vaccination status.

Good for Pitchfork- they are stating entry requirements up front, before selling tickets: Proof of inoculation or negative test within 24 hours. Helluva lineup for indie tastes, too. I wish the rest would follow suit, as lineups and tours are dropping all over the place.
Me to employer: "I'm taking off two months to attend festivals and concerts across the country. I'll be back at the end of October". Employer: "No you won't...".
NY has removed the mask mandates for fully vaccinated adults at this point. Earlier this week my grocery destination, Wegmans, did the same. I got my J&J at the beginning of March but I still brought my mask with me on my weekly Friday night grocery trip. I'd say 90% of people were still wearing them. (I ended up wearing mine because everyone else was.) I guess that's a good sign, right? That people are still wearing them without enforcement. I mean, it's early days but I wasn't expecting to see anyone wear them.
Employees are still wearing them at work but we now have signage saying that they're only required for unvaxed guests. (Unsaid: we are not asking if people are vaxed or not.)
(Unsaid: we are not asking if people are vaxed or not.)
And 80% of those unvaxed will not wear masks anyway, and lie if they're ever asked.
Exactly. Why bother? That's why I'm annoyed that the CDC lifted the mask mandate before the vaccines were approved for all ages. Those people won't be responsible enough to help protect the people who can't get vaccinated.

California is having a vaccine lottery now. 10 people will win $1.5 million, 30 people will win $50k and everyone who gets the vaccine from now on will get a $50 gift card.
The vaccine lotteries are cool but we really need to be encouraging employers to give time off for people to get vaccinated. 48% of unvaccinated people haven't been vaccinated because they are worried they will have to take time off from work.
He also suggested that any non-vaxxed people who want to attend the show “perhaps put together a GoFundMe and all the other weirdo anti-vaxxers can help support you going to Teenage Bottlerocket for a thousand dollars. That’s always an option.”
I am really not doing well with transitioning to no mask in public. I definitely still wear them in all shops and at work. Went to my first concert Thursday and the venue said all staff was vaccinated and tested, and if you were too you could not wear a mask? Was strange but nice.
I did have to get out my teacher voice today at the grocery store bc this particular one is still requiring masks but some chad and Karen didn’t think the rules applied to them. They were letting one of their kids DIG IN THE COFFEE BEANS. 😑😑😑 I did say “excuse me could you please not let your child dig in the coffee barrels during a pandemic?”. The lady said ok and took the kid’s hand. 🤷🏻♀️I dunno. People always get mad at me and tell me it’s not worth it to say anything but I feel like that’s why people do that kind of crap? Bc they know people won’t ever call them out. I’m just so over us being here bc certain people are so selfish.

I’ve still been masking anytime I’m indoors in public. I had to go clothes shopping this weekend, and all of the stores I went in had signs up that masks were not required if you are vaccinated. I’d guess maybe 30 percent of people I saw inside them were wearing masks. A lot of employees were masked, except at Dillards where most of them were not.
I try to read the room. I kinda have stopped actually keeping track of PA/Philly's current restrictions and just keep my mask on me if I have to go somewhere. I see people wearing masks, I put mine on. Outside I stay freefaced though.

went to costco this weekend maskless for the first time. i went the week before but didn't even notice costco's rules had changed following the updated CDC guidance so i had my mask on, and was wondering why only like 50% of people had their mask on. anyway for me it felt good to go maskless, though i certainly understand others feeling weird about it after this past year.

mine stays in my car, and I'll wear it into most stores if it looks like other people are. If I'm driving Uber, I wear it because I have to, but no longer enforce passengers wearing theirs. I'm not fucking wearing it at the bar though lol
I don't wear one outside anymore. Or at work. Or at a bar/restaurant.
Indoors at stores I still usually wear one though, even though I've noticed a lot less people doing it. Especially in NH or rural CT, where it's 90+% white people.
I go back and forth between four states and four different sets of rules (RI, MA, NH, CT)
Went to Splash Lagoon in Erie, PA for the weekend. PA seems to have a lot stricter guidance than NY does now but no one was following it. Entire place was no masks, even in the mandated areas and definitely not capacity limits or social distancing. Made me kind of uncomfortable but we're all vaccinated except the two youngest. I usually still wear at stores and most people still seem to be even though I am in in a bit of the "redneck convention" area.
