WHO says put your masks back on. CDC has their thumb up their butt, as usual.
As someone who never stopped masking indoors, I'm kind of taken aback by the wailing and gnashing of teeth I'm seeing around some of this, "We might have to wear masks inside, again" thing (not referring to your post), even from people I know who had no problem masking for the past year. Is it really THAT onerous to put on a mask when you're in a grocery store?
It's been constantly disappointing how little effort people are willing to put into keeping each other safe.
When this all first popped up, I remember asking my child's doctor how long she thought we would have until we got back to normal and she said "about two years" and it looks like she'll be pretty spot on.... hopefully.

Yeah, I think there are many people who were very diligent pre-vaccine who are frustrated that they are expected to mask up again because 30% of the country won't get the shot. I think it's a reasonable frustration.
The mother of one of my 9-year-old daughter's classmates invited my daughter to go to their house for lunch and play after school last week. I asked if both parents are vaccinated and the mom said she was but the husband "isn't anti-vax but doesn't trust pharmaceutical companies" and had been dragging his feet about getting vaccinated.
I was like, sorry but we're not sending our unvaccinated daughter to go to your house and eat with your unvaccinated husband. We can do a play date at the park instead.
Fast forward to today's play date at the park, and when my wife met the other kids' mom, she said the husband is getting vaccinated tomorrow because he felt bad about inhibiting his daughter's social life.
I'm glad we shamed someone into helping protect society.

This was me a month ago with my main group of friends. Someone wanted to do a friend gathering since we haven’t had one in over a year. I piped up in the chat asking if all the adults were vaccinated, a few people didn’t respond so I said NOPE. My closest friends in that group are vaccinated so we are doing plans separately.
Anybody here have done the monoclonal antibody treatment? I tested positive for the virus and have slight pneumonia so doctor says I am a candidate for the treatment.

I've never heard of it but I hope you feel better.

I have a few friends that got it earlier this year, they had health conditions that made them candidates. They went into some NASA like warehouse and were hooked up to a machine for about half a day. They said it definitely helped. I'd do it I were you.

Our medical director highly recommended it for these situations. Worth a shot, gitit

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I work for one major hospital system in our area and one small Catholic hospital. The availability of personal protective equipment has been shit at both places throughout the thick of the pandemic, due to cost and supply issues. However, we received notice that the home care field nurses at our major hospital system will finally have N-95s to use in the homes of COVID positive and suspected patients. They have previously been using regular surgical masks, face shields and gowns, which is NOT the gold standard PPE when encountering COVID patients, but OSHA lists it as an appropriate back-up during shortages.
Upon notice of the availability of N95s, one of our hospice nurses just went and got herself fired by sending a ballsy email to the entire building. The directors, managers, nurses, office staff--everyone. I won't post the entire thing, but here are the highlights. It is what folks have been thinking, but everyone else looks forward to every other Friday too much to say.
Is this honest-to-God for real? EIGHTEEN MONTHS after the start of this pandemic and {redacted} is just now REQUIRING N95s for COVID patients? After almost all of your staff were begging for N95s because science literally showed that wearing N95s was the safest measure to have to prevent contracting COVID? After almost all of your staff contracted COVID FROM WORK and not your "Community acquired" CYA Bullshit? This company and its leadership should feel ashamed of themselves. You put your employees and their families at risk for no other reason than to save money while you tapped on your keyboards from the safety and comfort of your own home.
This email was received a year and a half too late.

Man I really feel bad for Cannon Fodder. Hate that they got fired. I learned a long time ago it gets you no where to tell corporate what you really think. But sometimes you gotta.
Infusion took about 30 minutes and then had to stay another hour for monitoring. I’m already feeling way better. First time in 10 days that I don’t have a fever.
My boss came in and said “there’s a new COVID drug that has 100% effectiveness and they’re still pushing the vaccine 🙄” and I asked and it was Ivermectin and I did a quick google search and literally result number one was the FDA saying not to use it for COVID-19 treatment and I brought that up and he said “yeah, but this is against the pharmaceutical companies. The FDA has a history of rescinding medications after is was revealed that they were paid off by pharmaceutical companies” and I am struggling to figure out where this secret medication came from if it wasn’t tainted by big pharma!

F*ck all these stupid jackasses. Every single one of them...
They always think they have it all figured out, like they uncovered some inside info, but it's always riddled with contradictions, inconsistencies, mixed in with their nauseating combination of arrogance and superiority.

“new Covid drug” Ivermectin has literally been around since the 70s lol
Ivermectin is used to treat roundworms and threadworms. I have dispensed it many times. If you have those, knock yourself out. Otherwise, leave the shit alone.

Oh yeah! I watched an interview with a feed store or Co-Op employee in Arkansas who said they were selling out of “horse dewormer” (guessing ivermectin). Folks are putting it on crackers and eating it or some crazy shit. Knuckleheads.

The Tennessee Department of Health will halt all adolescent vaccine outreach – not just for coronavirus, but all diseases – amid pressure from Republican state lawmakers, according to an internal report and agency emails obtained by the Tennessean. If the health department must issue any information about vaccines, staff are instructed to strip the agency logo off the documents.
The health department will also stop all COVID-19 vaccine events on school property, despite holding at least one such event this month. The decisions to end vaccine outreach and school events come directly from Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey, the internal report states.
I wonder what percentage of the attendees were vaccinated. I imagine the number is lower than the overall national number given the age of festival attendees.
It coincided, at least in part, with bars and restaurants reopening with fewer protection measures. I read somewhere else too that some of the festival events were indoors, despite the reporting.
Agree that those percentages must be lower for younger populations. No idea or info I’ve seen on an estimate of asymptomatic or breakthroughs.
It got me thinking about what might be considered “indoors” at Bonnaroo. Seems like very little. Even things like the Christmas barn are pretty ventilated. The tents have fairly high ceilings and three open sides. Some of the pod structures are pretty closed. Bathrooms/portos.
I don’t know. I’ve been one of these anti-indoors, no/few-rules-outdoors people — generally speaking, so it shook me a bit.
