My pandemic anxiety popped back up the other night. I truly hate people that refuse to get vaccinated.
Same. Plus the fact that <12 year olds are still just purely susceptible as ever. I felt way more comfortable months ago when people still had to wear masks. Now I'm in lockdown part 2, and fighting to continue working from home until my kid has his jabs.

I find it hard to believe 1,000 out of 40,000 people got COVID at an outdoor festival. Especially if vaccination/negative test was required. Now if they mean 1,000 cases are linked back to the event (meaning multiple transmissions from the event happened) I could believe that perhaps.
Would be good to know how many of those were asymptomatic.
worth noting that under 40 only became eligible for the first dose in early June. Under 30 was mid June. Almost none of those people were fully vaccinated I’d guess

yeah, a lot of the messaging I've seen from corners of, say, medical twitter has boiled down to "mask wearing is great because it feels betters when you mow the lawn!!" which doesn't make any sense because masks are ultimately pretty uncomfortable for personal use; "mask wearing is good because it protects young children" is way more convincing imo

masks are godsends for cleaning cat litter. will never go back.
wonder if doctors offices will ever go back to no masks. I don't really see why they should, especially sick rooms.
God, I hope not. There's really no reason.
I remember a couple years ago I had bronchitis and it felt SO WEIRD to wear a mask inside the doctors office. But now it would be exactly the opposite if I was hacking everywhere.
4 months post vaxxed, tested positive. Past few days were ugly but nothing more than a bad flu. Doing better now, just mentally in a rut. 16 months doing everything right just to end up with it. Oh well.

If I have to wear a mask at fall concerts, fine. I was probably gonna wear one at the indoor shows regardless. But I don't know how much of this genie they can realistically put back in the bottle. We'll just end up back in the same place months down the line. The anti-vaxxers were never into masks to begin with, they aren't going to suddenly change their minds about the shot, and now even those who were happily complying with mask guidelines beforehand are irritated with it. I'm willing to take booster vaccines as they come, but if we lose concerts again this fall, I don't see a situation next year or the year after that would give us drastically different conditions.
Tennessee is an anti vaxx state now so its likely fine. Lolla is what you gotta look at in a couple of weeks, cause if that ends up being a super spread then LN will rethink what happens next. Theres already been a couple of things in Europe where a ton of cases came out of it because people falsified their test results. Every fest shouldve just said vaccine or no entry and not gave any leeway to anyone else.
I have only not worn a mask in public (indoors) twice.
One was for my friends 40th birthday party and there was 15 of us and everyone was vaccinated. The second was for the Bull run. They were at less than half capacity had both bay doors open in the warehouse where it was held.

Shocker. I attended a webinar thing yesterday and had to shake my head at this chart:
situation isn't so clear and some of the alternate readings on that chart are bleaker (for example Georgia is doing terribly and Vermont is killing it)

Early on in the vaccination effort I think it made sense to break this down by state since the states were administering the vaccine and vaccination rates were more or less a direct result of the efficacy of a state's vaccination program. Now that vaccination rates are more related to peoples' willingness to get the vaccine I think we need to find a more nuanced way to examine this. For example, Texas doesn't look terrible based on this graph compared to quite a few other states but this is due to higher vaccination rates in the urban areas and along the border while more rural areas are really falling behind. I imagine this is the case in many states. I'm also not sure making this comparison is super helpful for the vaccination rate as it kind of feels like dunking on Trump voters which I'm usually for but maybe this isn't the time.

Man I am so sorry. It sucks that you had to go through this after doing everything right. You are an inspiration for me and mine to step it up and be even safer.
And I a sorry that Tennessee sucks. Nashville is a blue dot surrounded by idiots.
Even with everyone vaxxed, there was going to be another surge because of the new variants. People are gonna catch it, it's just that it shouldn't be fatal anymore. At least not for most individuals. Removing the mask mandate so early was a bad move to begin with. Idk if it'll cause for festival cancelations, but I def expect a huge spike in cases throughout the remainder of Summer.

Yea unfortunately we won't ever have enough people vaxxd for this to completely go away. In the end I think everyone will probably get it eventually, whether they know it or not.

Boooooo! I am wishing you a quick recovery physically and mentally.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
