Hey all, caught a breakthrough cases at desert daze last last week and lost my sense of smell. Has anyone else that got it lost theirs and how long didv it take to come back, if at all? I honestly have very little appetite now because of it
That sucks. I'm sorry.
I suppose if that happened to me I would focus on only eating healthy stuff since I won't know if it tastes good or not.
I echo this. My father lost his sense of taste for months and it didn't fully recover, but during this period he was able to eat healthier food (and learn to cook, now that he is retired). He's down 25 lbs and not in a bad way.

sorry man, i had one in august and that was my only symptom. took about 1-2 months for it to come back near fully but i came out of it disliking IPAs despite loving them before. so it may change your taste buds
Yeah, my wife now can't stand the smell or taste of onions, where she had no problem with, and sometimes even enjoyed, them pre-COVID.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount

Have you started divorce proceedings or are you waiting to see if this situation rectifies itself?

Actually, it's more likely she'd be the one to walk, since I still occasionally insist on putting onions on a sandwich or my half of the pizza, or walking by them in the produce section.

That's because you're a human being. Onions are an essential part of so much good food. My daughter used to like to tell me that she didn't like them (except the picked red onions that I make) and then I would remind her of everything that she eats with onions in them. She's finally stopped protesting.

My brother, who is a fully grown human, insists that if he gets an onion in his mouth, he will throw up immediately. It makes me sad to think of all the wonderful onion-containing foods that he misses out on.

My festie bestie only eat onions if she can't see them. So basically you have to cut or chop them up as small as humanly possible (or cook them way the fuck down). Whenever we have had dinner together I basically cook them until they are nothing and then add all other ingredients. So weird.

I honestly don't understand why they ever lift mask mandates. I get it numbers drop or whatever, but that is usually because cases spike and mandates get put back in place. Just leave them there. It is the only way to stop these spikes from even happening. So stupid. People who are anti-mask are just going to not wear them anyway.
vaccine mandates should be in effect for most things a la NYC with the only exceptions being made for actual medical excuses, e.g. Drs note. with a negative test still being required for those exceptions

The CDC is also royally fumbling the ball with the whole "people over 18 *may* get a booster." Everybody *should* get a booster. The data's pretty clear.

I had a legit COVID-19 infection in October 2020. Completely lost taste and smell for a few months. Smell is mostly back, taste seems forever altered. I am still able to enjoy most of my favorite foods and didn't gain any aversions. I think my biggest difference is that I went from drinking coffee with half/half + sweetener to just with a splash of milk. And that's really just to cut the acidity. Weirdly specific I know. Stupid virus.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Agreed. I have only taken my kid into a store ONCE since they lifted the mandate here, because I feel like there's no way the unvaxxed folks are still wearing masks.

I ALWAYS wear my mask. ALWAYS. I get the stupidest questions when I am wearing it. Including: Why are you wearing a mask? Are you that scared of a virus? People that believe covid are so stupid. Are you just a follower that is scared of life? It is really fucking annoying. I don't go up to people that don't wear mask and ask them stupid questions or yell at them over not wearing a mask.

That's so funny... I usually do half and half but now I'm just drinking it black because.... It doesn't matter. If I come out of this a black coffee drinker I'm ok with that
Also, what I've learned from all this is that I now have cart blanche to tell people I can no longer eat certain foods because COVID fucked them up for me, and not because I'm a picky man child

I've gotta start doing this for pizza, which everyone thought I was psychotic for not liking as a kid. I then developed a dairy allergy as a teenager, meaning I finally had an excuse to tell people, even if it wasn't lethal (I can still have one scoop of ice cream and be fine). Flash forward to the last decade, when there's lactate meds and all these new types of pizzas, so now I get questions like "Can't you just take a lactate pill?" or "Why not order the vegan pizza?" So now I've gotta shift to "COVID ruined pizza for me" despite never catching COVID.

Can we get a mod over here to ban this weirdo?
Seriously, I wasn't trying to indicate to people that it was ok to come out as a psychopath
How does a county enforce mandatory vaccinations? I don't understand how that'd work.
I'm haven't gone through and read everything yet. I'm guessing that it'll be that you need to show proof of vaccination to enter public places like restaurants, hotels, and stores. That's already in place here for the sports venues.

That is how it is here, supposedly. We have vaccine mandates in Orleans Parish and you have to show proof of vaccination. Unfortunately since the mask mandate has once again been dropped, those places are not enforcing the vaccine mandates either.
In Tennessee, the numbnuts passed legislation that make it illegal for any city or county to require vaccinations or masks unless 3/4 of the population are dead.
I’m wearing my mask and getting some looks. Like I give two fucks.
I'm really curious if there is a noticeable impact in the number of Republicans vs Democrats due to Covid death come the 2024 election, especially in these states that are aggressively trying to pretend that it doesn't exist/there's nothing that can be done to prevent it.
