Results in 2-3 days. The test, itself, was a breeze - swab for 5 seconds pretty deep in there, but not as uncomfortable as I expected it to be.
My big concern now is that a) we didn't have it, but b) we might have picked it up at the doctor's office. We wore masks, gloves, and eye protection, and while there were a couple other patients there, they were also masked. But the exam room was small, and I did have to take the goggles and mask off for the test, so my worry would be that someone who'd been in there before me getting tested coughed, or something, and the shit was lingering in the air.
Assuming we don't already have it, of course. Given that we're both feeling alright, at this point, I kind of would prefer a positive test result.
Easy to say from afar but in your position I'd probably feel better knowing that I did have it and have already kicked it's ass.
I just cooked 2 weeks worth of pasta sauce and meatballs, and forgot I can't give any away to anyone. I really need to cut down this recipe
The wife took the kids to her parents for almost two weeks one summer, and I stayed home to work. Figured id make a big batch of sauce and live on that while they were gone. I finished it in like 3 days.

I've still got 64 oz left... I think I'm going to have to freeze it
Actual I should get a bunch of mozzarella and chicken cutlets, but I don't want to go out shopping again

Just want to say I enjoy reading this thread each day. It might not be a fun read, but it's nice to read discussions about this international shitshow that aren't full of social media hysterics, as well as get some useful information. The Pip content is a plus too.

Apparently they are doing rapid testing on Long island now. Get results within a really short amount of time (maybe half hour or hours?). Supposedly a family friend who we knew her husband had it just felt bad and went this week and got confirmed to have it as well.
So this work week was a doozy. Our company and all the emergency departments would change or escalate the rules and regulations every day. q
And every day is Halloween. I only got to dress up as a spaceman once though (my medic partner 4 times). At least I got to tell the person they should not go to the hospital - a normally big no-no, especially for my position, before all this started, and reserved for only a select few qualified people.
But again. The times they are a-Changin' (fortheworst) this low guy on the totem-pole is now on his week off. Praying I don't have it to spread amongst my family.

I made jambalaya last night and, as usual, ended up with way more than originally intended, because I make thing sup as I go and can't use "just a little" of anything. It freezes okay though, and so does pasta sauce. Not sure about the meatballs, but why not.

This is *quite* the dashing outfit.
What sort of call requires you to dress up so extensively: when you know you're heading to treat a patient displaying respiratory distress/other clear COVID symptoms?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
A bright side to all of this is that I'd planned on opening a bar with my boss at the bar I work at when I'm at school. I was originally planning on only financially supporting it but if I don't get any job with music or experiential marketing (what I've done for the last four years of college) I can take more ownership of it. So I won't necessarily have to live at home. And in all honesty it would be like an extension of my college years because it's going to be in a rivaling college town. Could be a lot of fun and would be pretty good income

So at this point, our rules include: we are required to wear a surgical mask at all times, even in the cab with our partners. Because they're now fearful following two police officers partners who both tested positive.
Once we get a call, we are required to wear an N-95 no matter what the call is for, including car wrecks or stubbed toes. All persons are suspect.
if patient answers affirmatively to a screening question (travel / contact with other ill people / have fever/cough/S.O.B.) asked by Dispatch, we have a single person suit up and speak with them.
If the patient cannot maneuver themselves or are critically ill, both of us have to suit up. If we have to give breathing treatments, we have to suit up. All CPRs, we have to suit up because of getting in such close and intimate proximity to the person.
And these things are hot. My partner calls them a portable sauna. I said "wait till Texas Summer Heats Up."
Yeah, P.P.E. is flying off the shelves, and everyone is struggling to keep up.
