I don’t know if the rule applies though. This isn’t a solo act playing songs from a group he’s part of. It’s a DJ literally playing his own material.
I care about neither act but if they are part of an already selected act and performing that act's material then it should be ineligible. That rule's relatively straight forward.
It is and it isn’t. The way the rule also includes the provision about producers and DJs makes it look like a supplemental clause rendering the first portion notwithstanding. The line about DJs should be it’s own rule, appended with the caveat that the six song rule still applies. As presently written, the ambiguity is such that it’s easily argued that the DJ/producer clause is an exception to the six song rule.

The DJ thing is also contingent on them having a separate identity performing separate music.

How is that any different than the six song rule? Trey Anastasio Band is a different identity from Phish, Jim James solo is a different identity from MMJ. If the six song rule applies equally to every act then there’s no need to have the DJ clause, because the six song rule covers it. Including it in the language of the provision implicitly states that it is an exception to the six song rule. Otherwise it’s a needless redundancy.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
From Kraftwerk till EitS doesnt feel realistic. There's a drop off with Jamiroquai/Tearsfor Fears > Denzel Curry and I don't think Kali Uchis > The Decembrists is another one, could be mistake but I don't think the latter is that big.
Radiohead and Rufus as a 1 and 2 on the same day does not feel realistic ftr.

I did not notice that addition to the rules this time. I'm assuming bugs bunny funny moments and Fred mean that DJ's can be drafted under different monikers regardless of if the play the exact same music?

Edit: the drop off there is jarring

Can you guys clarify this?
It's in there to allowed Caribou/Daphni and Tsstpilot/Deadmau5. If the rule doesn't apply then whoever has testpilot could just make it a Deadmau5 set. Hell, my War Nymph set can just be a regular Grimes set too.

That doesn’t make any sense. If the rule is “drafters have exclusive rights to the act they drafted but not the members of the act, provided that those members don’t regularly play six songs from the parent act” then that’s just the rule. There’s no need to include the language about DJs which seems like it’s an exception to the rule.
As long as the rule is “you’re drafting the act not the person or members behind the act” then there’s no need for additional language. You couldn’t draft Testpilot and make it a Deadmau5 set because you didn’t draft Joel Zimmerman, you drafted Testpilot.
It is very clearly ineligible if it breaks the 6 song rule
2) Once an artist or act is drafted, they are unavailable to any other team. Teams do not have exclusive rights to musicians that are part of drafted acts however nobody may select an act that includes a musician in a drafted act if the second act regularly plays 6 or more songs created by the previously selected act. There are some exemptions to this rule for DJs/producers. If a producer has played under different monikers (i.e. Caribou/Daphni, Plastikman/Richie Hawtin, etc.), they are both eligible to be drafted.
The last sentence indicates that the six song rule doesn't apply to DJs/producers who use different names.

Does blackliszt play 6+ Zhu songs? Yes. Case closed- repick

I’m not arguing that the six song rule isn’t the standard and I don’t give two shits about whether someone else has a random ZHU side project. My only point is that if the only thing that matters is the six song rule then the DJ clause needs to be excised from that rule.
Like literally read the rule. It says “there’s a six song rule” and then says “there’s an exemption to this rule for DJs and producers”

This is the correct interpretation. When I added that rule, I didn’t think there would actually be a case where 6-song thing is needed since DJ setlists typically change from set to set.

Proposal: Remove "There are some exemptions to this rule for DJs/producers. If a producer has played under different monikers (i.e. Caribou/Daphni, Plastikman/Richie Hawtin, etc.), they are both eligible to be drafted." from rule 2 as confusing and contradicting of the 6 song rule.
Also. Just got home from celebrating my new job. I’m a little drunk. A little sad bc the bar scene is super dead now. #corona
But I appreciate that even tho I haven’t checked in in several hours y’all are out here having the same damn argument. Draft drama never ceases to amaze me. 👏🏽

Does it not say there are "some" exceptions? It then literally lists out examples

Are you seriously arguing that the only two person to whom the DJ exemption applies are Dan Snaith and Richie Hawtin?
The rule as written and as confirmed by the writer of the rule above was that the six song rule did not apply to DJs and producers performing under different aliases. It actually really makes sense, and honestly is so limited in the scope of what it allows that who really gives a shit if this zhu alias is allowed? Like why is this the hill you’re choosing to die on? I’d get it if there were tons of super dope DJ acts that you thought were ineligible and didn’t draft because of this rule but I’m betting that’s not the case.
