Skee Mask won’t come to the U.S. because of fear of flying. Tirzah can’t come because of Visa issues. I’ve tried for both of these IRL
That's cool. Those seem like good examples of acts that should be excluded by the US date rule. Acts that have been touring for a while and for one reason or another cannot/will not play the US.
Have any of them has their debut come out during the pandemic?
Sault. We nixed them for lack of performance dates in the states. And to make things worse they are from the states so they have less ability to call future tour dates at all.
They seem to be mystery collective from England that haven't played any live dates at all?

You asked for an example. i give up. I don't give a fuck what you choose.

I think we were all just trying to point out how we have acts who were impacted by not having any/enough shows in the US (or just shows in general) for whatever the case may be.
Delicious Meatball Sub I knew it was smart to go for her now. We are going for a less wook heavy but very techno-versed lineup. Heavy on the female dj's too that are heavily unrepresented in the culture.
This is so dumb lol. Should have just snuck it in as a free agent when no one would have checked I guess.
I thought about doing this too, but then I would have missed the opportunity to promote it since it’s not like anyone would actually dig through all the free agents they are unfamiliar with anyways.

We would’ve loved to deck out the Other with artists like Mama Snake. But if festivals like Coachella aren’t even booking artists like that for their Yuma stage, why would Bonnaroo in 2021 do so?

I'm running every free agent though Setlist and Songkick.

Gonna ask Rumm later if we can add a Boiler Room stage.

Consistency. We aren't booking "wook bass" to our Other Stage, Mama Snake at Kalliope and during a stage show is intellectually consistent with our roster.

Seems odd to pivot from a successful strategy Bonnaroo has made for a realistic Bonnaroo draft.

Bonnaroo wouldn’t book like 90% of what people have drafted so far. What Bonnaroo “would” book seems besides the point. We know what they would book - stuff that sucks. It’s less about what Bonnaroo would book and more about what would/could you book if you were put in charge. Doing the whole “durrr Bonnaroo wouldn’t ever have [insert act here] defeats the whole idea of doing a fantasy draft.
Are we seriously get snagged on Mama Snake when people are just dumping shit on the Other Stage because they don't care about the stage at all?
Nobody is saying anything about her lol. But you're not making it yourself very easy when admitting you knowingly won't pick stuff that is supposed to be on there lol.

The point of this draft is to “improve Bonnaroo’s identity”. If you’re only allowed to book dog shit music then what’s the point of this whole thing?

It just isn’t realistic, as much as Aphex Twin isn’t. We’ve got a mix of bass, accessible house, EDM, and more on our Other that feels like a lineup to cater to people who have contributed to Bonnaroo selling out the past few years.

Wooks are as much a part of Bonnaroo's identity as jam imo, you can't just throw that away.
edit: and there is exciting shit being made and young people growing in the bass-community. It's your job to scout that talent and get 'em in. It's okay if you don't care about the music but to throw that community away as a booker is dumb.

There’s three goals of the draft:
“Your goals are to book a lineup that would (1) sell enough tickets to keep Bonnaroo alive, (2) improve Bonnaroo's identity (e.g. impress your voters) while (3) accounting for the type of acts the festival booked in earlier and later editions.”
This is my first draft. But it seems the realism aspect is more of a focal point here because this board has previously done complete fantasy Bonnaroo drafts where stuff like Aphex Twin, Mama Snake, etc. would fly.
