booked SNBRN still gets shit for Mama Snake. Awesome. makes so much sense.
Not my intent to shit on you, but pose a question as to why Bonnaroo in 2021 would book house and techno not even seen at other multi genre festivals in the US.
The point is, I can't do anything to improve the festival in the viewpoint of years of attending. Things I would now go see but wouldn't in past years - on my fucking birthday weekend - makes me so upset that I'm getting nitpicked. I am going to get shit drunk, and try to pretend this draft isn't occurring for the next 12hrs.
Are we seriously get snagged on Mama Snake when people are just dumping shit on the Other Stage because they don't care about the stage at all?
Nobody is saying anything about her lol. But you're not making it yourself very easy when admitting you knowingly won't pick stuff that is supposed to be on there lol.
Delicious Meatball Sub I knew it was smart to go for her now. We are going for a less wook heavy but very techno-versed lineup. Heavy on the female dj's too that are heavily unrepresented in the culture.
The assumption that you need to feature shitty wook bass is so dumb.

You've been acting like the arbiter of acceptable EDM lately, but you didn't exactly take the same approach when you booked a ridiculous amount of huge names for your top two lines. Shut up and let people draft what they want. Have it out during voting.
They seem to be mystery collective from England that haven't played any live dates at all?
I think we were all just trying to point out how we have acts who were impacted by not having any/enough shows in the US (or just shows in general) for whatever the case may be.
I get that, and I'm trying to point out the rule was used in bad faith for Bananagun. They're a band that just released their debut, have international dates scheduled, and their sound fits what Bonnaroo books. It's perfectly in the spirit of the game, and people against it are just being pedantic.
The point of this draft is to “improve Bonnaroo’s identity”. If you’re only allowed to book dog shit music then what’s the point of this whole thing?
There’s three goals of the draft:
“Your goals are to book a lineup that would (1) sell enough tickets to keep Bonnaroo alive, (2) improve Bonnaroo's identity (e.g. impress your voters) while (3) accounting for the type of acts the festival booked in earlier and later editions.”
This is my first draft. But it seems the realism aspect is more of a focal point here because this board has previously done complete fantasy Bonnaroo drafts where stuff like Aphex Twin, Mama Snake, etc. would fly.
Aphex Twin isn’t realistic because he’s played 3 USA shows in the last 10 years and generally isn’t that interested in playing fests. Not because he doesn’t “fit” whatever Bonnaroo presently is.
What’s funny is Bandeto has probably been to more Bonnaroo’s than most people in this thread. If anyone has an idea of what the identity of this fest was/is/could be it’s him.

All good man, happy birthday and enjoy your birthday weekend.

Wooks are as much a part of Bonnaroo's identity as jam imo, you can't just throw that away.
Bonnaroo has had jam bands since it’s inception. It’s had a stage full of shitty wook bass for 2-3 years. Some of you guys act like it’s a thing that always was and that’s straight up not true.
The fact that no one has booked the Avett Bros is way more unrealistic than people not booking wook bass.

Current Bonnaroo pretty much only books lame Spotify algorithm rock bands but nobody is up in arms when people book decent guitar acts. Similarly, they mostly book absolute trash hip hop but people aren’t like hey hold on you’ve got too many good rap acts. There’s just this weird insistence that you need to have a stage full of shitty EDM to abide by the guidelines for this draft and it makes no sense.
We're booking a pretty reasonable Bonnaroo lineup. We're improving it with things we'd want to see. We're not wasting a whole stage on trash. Get over it.

If you balance things out, then I think you should be fine. I'm not saying The Other should only have shitty EDM, I'm saying there should be a certain balance, a mixture in there idk. The Other is not a house and techno-stage. It's a stage for electronic dance music, so all kinds of stuff can be there. Similarly as to when Iglooghost got used as a sort of example for these kinds of arguments.
I just think it's silly to not put DJs on the stage that's setup for DJs.
Even when they put stuff like flume (17) on which LN it felt like such a waste. It's not like the Other was very small, there were a ton of people at Marshmello when we were leaving that day.

I opened for SNBRN at a frat party once, he put on a hell of a set, and got real drunk in the process. When it was over he spent like an hour trying to find some girl to go home with, didn't work, hilarious

Ya my take is that all the people who haven’t booked Jam is way more of a demerit than if you don’t have some Bassnectar type. We have some of that shit but it’s not going to be only that on our Other
