More interesting personality?! Bonnaroo sold out last year!
Yeah Im just saying we shouldnt be taking things off the table that we wouldnt expect roo to book in 2021 like Aphex Twin. Think that should be an important point of the game. To improve Bonnaroo while still gettin this money.
I was just kidding. I think anyone in this thread could make improvements.
i think 12 would be a solid place to cap it, more than 14 could be rough.
why? we’ve had basically double 12 in the past with no issues.
because one of the main differentiators that is going to make this concept possible is the higher quality we'll be able to achieve with less lineups. but if Cdev wants in we should 100% wait on a partner for him.

I've decided to jump back in after brainstorming some ideas. I messaged Juggs about being on a team, but down to link up with Cdev or anyone else willing to give it a go.

yes if there are 14 pick rounds, more lineups will have 3/3 or 2/3 really solid HLers than if there are 20 pick rounds. and this is what a bunch of us have been saying for the past couple hours, we don't have to take ALL of the worst parts of a modern bonnaroo lineup to make a realistic bonnaroo lineup, we just have to reach that 70k threshold.

also it should be that if you draft an artist you're getting the most current version of that artist, so if you draft Kanye you get the guy crying on stage about abortion

this is what we're playing as. We've done the "non-realstic" Bonnaroo draft 4 times already.
wait wait wait so you can't make actually good lineups because it needs to be believable that Bonnaroo would book it in The Year of Our Lord 2021?
nah youd make the lineup you would book if you were in control of current Bonnaroo. So youd make it better but just also make sure it doesnt tank by booking a Day For Night lineup.

We were drafting current acts in the other one too. This is just more focused to Bonnaroo whereas the other should probably just be Draft a Festival

Can't say I love no free agents, especially as the roster gets bigger, but I'm 100% down for schedule templates. Hell, I'll volunteer to make it, and let y'all vet it.
What Stage (one LN set Friday just for fun?) Which Stage This Tent That That The Other Stage Where in the Woods?
I haven’t read everything so I don’t know who’s side this will land on but I just want to offer my opinion. Regardless if this goes my way or not Ill have fun doing this draft.
I think the goal should be to pretend that you actually got a job offer to, with your partner, replace the two guys that book Bonnaroo. So with that very real responsibility, you want to make sure that the festival sells at least $70k tickets and thrives financially. So im not voting on who would sell the most tickets, but if I saw a lineup that I think would totally sink the festival in the year it returns from covid, I wouldn’t vote for it. The popularity of the lineup should be almost viewed as a benchmark everyone should hit (would this sell at least $70k?) as opposed to whos would sell the most.
I think we should book a lineup that carves out a MORE interesting musical identity than the fest currently has. So yes Aphex Twin should absolutely play LN Which on someones lineup.
I want to book an evolved Where in the Woods stage lineup of House / Techno DJs, though that stage would want to stay at a size of like DJ Seinfeld and not Four Tet, which I think would still land in This or That Tent if booked.
I also think our lineups should pay respect to the festivals roots / core. Dont completely abandon jam and guitars while we venture into interesting territory the actual fest fails to do. Keep some world elements. Maybe a Metal night, etc
And finally an idea Ive become very passionate about but expect no support on. I think everyone should be given the same schedule template to fill out at the beginning of the draft. Im going to receive massive pushback here and Im ready to respond to all counter points. I strongly believe this would make the entire experience more enjoyable for everyone despite the fact that all you creatives will have to agree to there being a little more order to the game. Before you let your instincts kick in, I really hope people will consider how much more focused their drafting would be throughout the process as they filled in their template. How much time this would save you at the end. No more headaches and hours of staring at start times. And how much easier it would be to compare everyones lineups at the end of the game.
Brackets work better for this kind of draft with more direction.
Oh and I think there should be 0 free agents. Make it to where after round 20 we draft 2 artists per turn. 3 per turn after 25. 5 per turn until we each have the amount of acts necessary to fill out our templates.

Idk if the runners of the draft will agree to that concept, but if you want to make a rough draft to support the cause that would be dope and We can make edits.

my issue with this is that Oysterhead probably would've played a similar slot to Kacey or National this year but much longer so the schedule could be more fluid.
Also, not sure on The Other yet. I really like the idea of making people draft a bunch of shit. Will probably just run a poll for this stuff.
