Julie I had already decided to fill my lineup with latin american acts when you started drafting Helado Negro and Devandra Banhart etc. I was extremely concerned/confused lol

Yeah I noticed that. I think we both did a good job with that
I also remember Tyler making an untoward comment toward Tegan and Sara about "some hard dick". Sara is a gay woman.
We can do this all day, and I hope we do.
I mean it was 2011 edge lord, closeted Tyler. Doesn’t excuse it but in hindsight it’s also a lot harder to see it as malicious / harmful. And you posted that ASAP apologized for bein weird in that clip. obviously there’s dirt to be found on tons of rappers we love and have drafted, I just think DMX has always been a weirdo for the opening verse on his biggest track ever, which still gets some plays to this day, being solely dedicated to demeaning gay people. like you said, we could just do this all day with lots of rappers we like, but I’m not sure it gets much more damning than that DMX verse.

I think you're right about that. Those lyrics are horrible, and I guess he still performs them in his live shows, as of 2019. Fucking BIG yikes.
I don't think what Rocky and Tyler did are unforgivable, and we know Rocky did apologize. He wasn't acting weird though. He was clowning a man who was onstage with him specifically for the reason that he was the first NBA player to come out as gay.
I think what Tyler did went a step further from homophobia into misogyny and an implication of sexual violence. Sara made a blog post about the use of slurs on Goblin, and that was Tyler's response to that criticism. I hope he has made amends to her specifically, regardless of whether he has embraced his own sexuality.
ok so what is like the absolute deadline for getting schedule and poster in?? am fresh off a breakup right now and won't lie, brain a bit scattered...but i want to try to get stuff in on time still.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I made a Spotify playlist for my festival. Instead of just adding my favorite songs from every artist, I made something more curated and digestible. Only 75 minutes total. Check it out if you want to get a feel for the festival or want to get familiar with some of the acts that you may not know.
Edit: please don’t use shuffle, the order is intentional
