The original post said “Dave’s birthday isn’t only thing to get excited about this week”. They subtly changed it. Nothing coming this week. They are scrambling for some reason?
Was just coming here to point this out. Being from Philly the fest I grew up on was Firefly, and this feels so much like the crap that Red Frog used to pull when they were running the fest. So incredibly frustrating, there are a plethora of better ways to communicate.
yea for this year and 2020 the rollouts have been awful. before that it was just a simple, not post about it at all until the tuesday after coachellas drop to announce a drop date and drop it 2 days later. Now theyre trying to milk blind passes as much as they can

The Monday tweet said "coming along this week" which might not mean it's done/ready. Like, something that's "coming along nicely" isn't actually finished yet, right? Am I reading too much into this? Yes, definitely. But idk I've spent the last hour trying to convince myself that it may not be dropping today.

Nope, both wordings pretty strongly suggest some sort of big news from Boston Calling. They could have covered their backsides by dropping 3-5 more "lower on the poster" names, some food & beverage info, new sponsorships, anything really.
Either Rage is definitely out or the band is still trying to figure out whether to cancel some or all of their tour (or there's some issue finalizing a Rage replacement).
Maybe it's time to...Rage Against Rage Against The Machine.
depriving Bostonians of a major music fest makes sense as it only fuels their unearned sense of aggrievement. if you put one there, they'd just complain about it, like how they believe the NFL was rigged against the Patriots or whatever.
it truly is pain to live in one of the most sports centric metro areas while giving zero shits about sports. that being said you are absolutely right, the entitlement here is insane
Boston sports fans are such hypocrites. The same people who prayed "Just once in my life," during the Red Sox 86 year drought, now whine and moan if the Pats don't win the Super Bowl every single year.

“Coming along” means making progress. First tweet specifically stated we will be “excited this week”. It’s a subtle change but calculated.

pls bring arancini bros back thats all i ask. also Taco Party would be a bomb vendor for us grass eating vegetarians
ARANCINI BROS <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
they're really the only vendor i make sure to visit every year. outside of them i just go with whoever has a reasonably short line. also a lot of the vendors are from around here so even if they're good (like smoke shop) i can go eat their stuff basically any time of the year, versus arancini bros where that weekend is my only chance.

Two people waiting at a bus stop...
Person A: "When's the bus coming along?"
Person B: "It'll be along in 15 minutes."
Context is everything. They mentioned a specific event that was scheduled for this week, and compared the news that's "coming along" to the aforementioned event scheduled for the same week. You've got to do some real mental gymnastics to read that tweet as referencing something other than an event occurring this week.

lol c'mon, nobody talks like that. you'd just say "when's the bus coming?"
Did they chance the tweet/FB post? Some folks seem to think they did and the insta story screen shot I’ve see does say “to get excited about this week” vs the “coming along”. Does seem odd to have slightly different verbiage across essentially the same posts.

can confirm I saw the story that was posted on insta on monday and it said 'get excited about this week' with the lil emoji eyes.
It always feels like BC's roll out feels unorganized but yeah who knows, maybe they lost a headliner or something. the fact they haven't said anything is...odd, yet right in their character lol
i'd be fine with the delay if they just posted something saying "sorry to get your hopes up, we'll chat next week" or something. it just sucks for them to tease it and then ghost everyone.

BC is really one of those festivals that i would never travel for if i lived in like, NYC, LA or Chi but its so close to me that i say fuck it and go every year lmao

Fair enough. I just checked out the Arancini Bros website and that looks delicious. Apparently, they're sold at MSG, Citi Field, and Forest Hills (at least, at concerts. The arancini might be too easily mistaken for tennis balls at the U.S. Open), and they've been written up in a Village Voice "Best of" article (does the Voice even exist anymore?) I'll definitely have to try that while we're all milling about the grounds on Friday afternoon, waiting for Boston Calling to finally announce who's actually performing that day.
What sets the Smoke Shop waffle cone apart for me is that it was designed to be easy to eat in that environment. You always see people trying to balance full sized plates from one food vendor or another, and the waffle cone in a paper boat, just like a burrito wrapped in foil, doesn't require a seat or a surface that can double as a table for you to enjoy it. FWIW, the Smoke Shop only does the waffle cones at Boston Calling, so it's the only opportunity to enjoy their food in that particular configuration.
