Not that either of these are especially exciting gets but The Head and The Heart Just announced a tour with Jade Bird opening the first leg, looks like they're both out. Also dialing back to a previous discussion, Dawes is opening for a leg of the tour. So while they have a pretty committed fan base, they wouldn't billed that high.

Meanwhile, a new LiveNation festival in Las Vegas, not taking place until mid-October, has dropped its lineup today.
Really gonna use a 1 day fest with 60+ acts that costs $225+ as a "See look how good LiveNation is!" post? Looks like a fun day of conflicts and 15 min sets!

They said that there’s 3 stages for all those bands. How the quack is that gonna work?

Well they have 12 hours, assuming zero down time on the stages looks like everyone gets 35 minutes or so....

my guess now is next week or first week of feb considering how late it was last time
Really, Boston Calling should just adopt the attitude that Riot Fest displays on social media at this point, to bring a little humor into the situation and show a little humility after missing the boat on a 2021 edition and making the mistake of hitching its wagon to a headliner which can't seem to decide if they want to tour this year, after tickets have already been sold.
Here's Riot Fest's Twitter bio:
"Celebrating 17 years of not booking the exact bands you wanted, in the exact order you wanted, in the exact location you wanted, for free."

i was gonna say, at this rate id rather have Gov Ball as my local fest at this point. But then i realized that was the only fest ive been to that id ever been pickpocketed at lmao. not sure what it is about NYC being a magnet for scumbags

Cant ruin peoples expectations if you dont say anything, right? Ill be curious to see what Gov Ball looks like after their pivot from 2020 > 2021, given the other lineups this year I have a feeling its going to be a pretty big miss for my tastes but I'm sure will sell well.
you have Coachella and Prima now as well. ever since i got locked in for those i started caring way less about bc
yeah, I just want this fest to be good just cause of how important this fest is for me personally. My dad brought me to the Sunday of the very first edition, and we ended up front row for the National, and that was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and it’s honestly a big inspiration to get me where I am today. No matter how shitty the booking are im probably still gonna support this thing

Thats really sweet honestly, and as much as I rag on this festival, it was also my very first. I’ll never forget seeing Brand New and Modest Mouse back to back, and seeing that poster for the fall 14 edition with Neutral Milk Hotel got me hooked. I’ve been every year besides 2013 and as much as I rag on it too, I’m still gonna keep going until either the fest dies or I move away from MA. Not gonna let a frustrating lineup rollout and marketing keep me from enjoying myself

That show slapped. I really enjoyed the City Hall editions I went to.
FWIW, I was just scrolling through the list of upcoming shows at The Sinclair, and there's a gap in the calendar from Thurs, May 26 - Mon, May 30. So, as in past years since the move to Harvard's athletic grounds, they'll be hosting the aftershows.

I’m new to the festival. Who’s played the after shows in the past?

I think in 2019 Tank and the Bangas, Big Red Machine DJ set and Chromeo DJ set were the ones that were promoted by the fest

It's usually artists who played the festival that day, sometimes performing with their regular lineup in the usual way, and sometimes they're doing a DJ set. The doors open (and sometimes the opening acts start) before the headliner has finished.
Once you've exited through the gates, it's no more than a 10 minute walk to The Sinclair. Boston and Cambridge close off a portion of JFK street to traffic, at least at the end of the night, to keep pedestrian flow moving to Harvard Square, so it's still going to be a short walk, in terms of the time it takes to get there, too.
