The Allman Brothers Band has been selected and its eligibility is in question.
The Rule:
Any artist that is deceased as of the first pick of the draft is eligible. In addition, any act that has been inactive* since before 01/01/10 is eligible.
*An act is considered inactive if they have played no live shows and/or released no new music after 12/31/09. In addition they cannot have newly recorded music pending release and nor upcoming shows scheduled.
At Dispute:
The Allman Brothers Band's last live performance was 10/28/14, which would render them ineligible. The counter-argument is that they have not performed or recorded new music since the death of a band member.
Both the Allman Brothers are dead. Why is this even a poll?
Because the rule isn't if individual band members are dead then they're eligible. The rule is if an artist is dead then that person is eligible. Bands need a period of inactivity (after 2009) to be eligible for this one.
To clarify, this is not a poll about whether the Allman Brothers Band will tour again or record new music. It's whether they were active after the cutoff for eligibility for the draft and they clearly are not.

So you created a Zombie draft and wrote the rules in such a way where if the founding namesake member dies and the band will clearly never be active again, they’re not eligible? Why?

So by this rule if I drafted solo Gregg Allman he’d be eligible but because I drafted the Allman brothers band where both the Allman brothers and butch are dead it’s ineligible?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Because there are acts that have played decades after members die, even founding members. If the rule was that a band was eligible after a member died then there would be all sorts of acts eligible that have recently toured. AC/DC, for example or INXS or Blind Melon. Even if you allow the drafting of an act in their iteration before a dead musician was replaced, then you run into the very real possibility that multiple versions of an act would be eligible based on multiple members of an act dying at different times.
The purpose of the rule was to establish a timeframe for inactivity for bands since there are a lot of variables about what happens when a band member dies. It's not a perfect rule and I'm open to finding a way to improve it but it the rule that the draft was running under.

Yeah, you could draft the individual deceased members as long as they have two qualifying sets in their past.
This rule isn't tailored to individual acts, it's a blanket rule that applies if the entire band dies in a plane crash or if the guitarist who joined after a band's tenth album came out OD's.
So Gregg Allman is a zombie. We’re all obviously smart enough here to know and understand the difference between someone like him (not to mention the other zombie members) and a random backup guitarist on a 10th album

The rule was designed so we didn't have to debate how significant someone who died in a band is.
