Most iconic is probably Dre & Snoop from 2012, if we're being honest.
maybe but i feel like people mostly just know the hologram
2011 sold so well they had to add another weekend for 2012 and the other HL were kings of leon and arcade fire lol, plus Ice Cubes set was kinda the same thing
I get all that, but it's pretty easily argued (they do a good job of this in the documentary) that that Dre & Snoop set was the moment when Coachella skyrocketed into the more mainstream pop culture lexicon.

also kanye making them go international since that was the first year of live stream! either way I don't think the dre snoop selection really needed defense but I probably needed to justify kanye.

Also Delicious Meatball Sub had a great idea to do one of these drafts with a dedicated headliner round/rounds, where everyone had to take their three headliners and could only draft from the pool of prior headliners (I think there are 48 total), just because it would be interesting to see speople forced to build lineups around the Black Keys and the Killers and shit.
I'm totally down for a take 20 years of Coachella and going down the lines draft style, but the more I looked into it I think it's too hard with the jump from 2 to 3 days because a hard shift on lines. like yeah maybe you get stuck with a Jack Johnson or KoL with the last pick of Line 1 rnd, but you get the snake of whatever the best #2 on a day is (Daft)

Yeah, it's a tough one to work out logistically, but some of these drafts become a bit samey after a while in terms of the acts at the top.

My idea would be to not necessarily have ONLY past headliners, but have a set pool of the headlining acts (including Daft Punk and other obvious promotions) and make everyone draft them. You could also do a few mercy demotions on Phoenix or whatever. But someone has to book Coldplay.
I could have thought of this when Fred asked me for input but here we are

We'll have a somewhat similar version of this for the bonus phase - any of the drafted and designated headliners prior to bonus phase can only be taken as headliners.
