Distancing is Mafia members trying to do things to make it look like they aren’t on the same team. The best example is a Mafia member voting to kill another mafia member. In the most basic approach to the game, that would make you think that they aren’t together. Over the years, its become extremely common now for mafia members to fuck each other over and argue with eachother in the thread to make it appear they arent on the same team
This was actually a question I had. I wondered if mafia members ever killed each other to throw a scent off. Ruthless but but that’s life in these streets. You never know until it’s too late. Just reminds me of that scene in goodfellas when deniro asks Ray Liiota to go the Florida and that’s how he knew he was never going to come back

mardude > maddog honestly the narrative pushers seem most guilty to me because they seem the most eager to steer away from themselves so Im absolutely not ruling them out but im weirdly not getting vibes of a cover up from either of them. obviously jortles and rummy are both very experienced so they could be playing me like a fiddle and I wouldnt know. theres gotta be a new person in mafia just based on odds but im not sure. All of KPOs questions feel like hes asking them right before im thinking them so someone could totally be feeding them to him. dan and maddog are weirdly in the middle here but maddog especially seems like hes just trying to be so plain and inoffensive that hes glossed over and its sticking out to me and thats why im voting him

Yeah, while narrative driving can absolutely be a Maf tactic, it is also quite often (like the case with me this game, though I rly don't think I was doing thattt much narrative driving but whatev) called out as such on an engaged/talkative Townie who is trying to put out some feelers and see how others react.
Whereas playing too neutral for too long (it can be fine D1 and even sometimes into D2 but beyond that...) and just jumping unaggressively onto other people's stances tends to raise more alarm bells for me. Though also it depends on the player. MD does sometimes act that way as Town (whereas, like, Jostles never rly does), but i think it is a very good point/reason to vote for him at this juncture, mardude

Going to vote counts since way too many people are going off of vibes and it’s opening my mind to some things. Specifically the truevine whack. My mind keeps coming back to the tally at the end of day 1 (on mobile so taking this from memory)
Now I think the vote for jortles (here and day 2) is not the point for the whack. I think it’s more because the maf are trying to hide within the silver voters here. I think I’m starting to lean town on both KPO and mardude.
So this leaves me with 2 scenarios. One where silver is mafia and where he’s not. Either way I think the remaining maf are on silver here.
Silver is mafia: last remaining mafia between Pepe and mad dog
Silver is town: one mafia between Pepe and mad dog and one between rummy and jortles
Gonna throw my vote to Pepe here since he’s the overlap from what I was thinking before

Silv switching off Theo after Round 1 in Day 1--it is usually best not to question Was He Or Wasn't He re: D1 exile's potential mafia status, but it is still worth noting here since we know Theo is Maf.
I've barely looked at this thread today, but looking back it feels a bit like Rummy is driving the general conversation slightly too much for comfort, which also included a switch onto me off of Jortles with weak reasoning imo (that she felt more comfortable with LD and Dan having revotes vs. Silver and Truevine). I'm also interested in hearing a bit more from Julie and mardude just because they've been basically silent up to this point.
Pulling this quote again because I do think it is important: Theo is the initiator of the "oh no, Sus Narrative Drivers" convo--he highlights me as the one doing it here and then a little bit later, Jorts and Dan too. LD later says "what if the ones CONCERNED with the so called narrative driving are the ones we should be looking at?" which was a clear nudge towards his given.
Off Silv and onto Jorts, just as Silv had just gone off of Theo and onto Jorts... again, not saying we need to focus too much time/energy on conjecturing if Silv was Maf or not (it is best to assume he wasn't, so we can be happily relieved if it turns out he was), but I'm just honestly getting the vibe that neither Jorts nor Silv is on a team with Theo. For Silv to move off Theo and onto Jorts only for Theo to then move off Silv in turn and also onto Jorts... that'd be a lot of joint activity back to back if on a team.
Any update here? Feeling good about LD's impending death here?
Jostles presses people in a very specific way when Town that is sorta hard to explain but....if he's Maf this game, he's doing a fucking good job of acting his Town Self.
What if... the people that are behind the "narrative" are town, and the people who are "concerned" by the "narrative" are Mafia acting scared and trying to push back?
Silver and a noob already on me. Wouldn't take much for either third Mafia or some unsuspecting type (Theo) to help them get the upper hand.

Theo is the one to raise this idea, and admittedly a couple of us then join him quite quickly, but... while, yes, this could be some hella distancing going on, if maf together, would Theo really want to push Jostles back in with less than an hour to spare? It isn't impossible, but it isn't what i lean towards, that's for sure.
Think it is fairly likely that the three Maf were each on someone different at this juncture here--it is possible Silv is Maf, sure, but I know TV and myself are not, so I think likely just one was on Jorts (theo himself). I do sorta wonder, though, about the possibility that the remaining two Maf were BOTH on Silv because LD had already hinted towards being Inspector pointing out things with his given (with his comments towards Theo) and they didn't want to force a reveal but instead were hoping to get to N1 where they could whack him. In which case, it'd be Pepe & Dan since LD isn't Maf ofc.

Is there anything I can answer for people to clear things up? I feel I’ve laid my cases out pretty well the whole game and I feel like I’m just getting piled for weak reasons
