Look man I just see the obvious upside in a brand new technology that we are still quite a ways away from truly reaching. I'm not gonna spend all night arguing over something that is completely speculative right now such as this.
I wouldn't mind arguing about the gaming side if you're just trying to argue with someone though. I do genuinely believe in that and enjoy talking and informing people about it as it's something I've spent a lot of time on.
But if you're not gonna be open minded and just literally wanna cause drama I'm not gonna partake

If you saw the obvious upside in the technology you'd be able to explain the first thing about how it would actually accomplish anything, this specific example has demonstrated very well that you don't actually understand what it does
NFT's aren't solving any issue at all is the point. Ticket fees exist because of corporate greed, not technology inefficiency
Right now sure they're not solving anything. And yes corporate greed is the main issue and guess what there's no corporate greed in decentralized things. And like I said, I think the biggest upgrade we will see is on the gaming industry

NFTs are synonymous with greed lmao come on dude
The barrier to changing ticket fees is that venues and promoters get to decide who their ticket retailer is. Which is why I suggested that anyone could start a ticketing company and lower fees, the barrier is getting venues to go along with it, which is not a technology problem in the slightest.

Regarding gaming, all I can tell you is that every time some dipshit company tries to include NFTs in their game, people revolt and usually they sheepishly back down. Gamers know when they're being sold a bunch of bullshit

Tickets are particularly poor example tbh, people rail against Ticketmaster and think a decentralized, NFT solution is the answer. Except, then who’s running the show? Is each venue going to issue tickets? Is it the artist? You’re going to need tech/customer support, who’s doing that? Now this is just another centralized agency running the show.
You could theoretically accomplish capping resale/scalp prices with current methods, but everyone likes money too much. For fees, I thought it was common knowledge that TM just plays the bad guy in the transaction. The $25 “fee” on a $50 ticket is just a $75 ticket where you hate TM and not the venue/artist who are just as responsible for high ticket prices.
Keyboard Warriors Win. Blockchain technology is a bust.
All the mathematicians, computer scientists, cryptographers, and other experts that have been studying and theorizing about blockchain technology for 40 years, as well as virtually every major corporation spanning a disparate collection of industries, must all be clueless. It’s just a jpeg…🤡🤡🤡

Now this is constructive criticism! Thank you for the info.
I still want to play the devils advocate on the "everyone is greedy" argument though. I understand it's naive to disagree but I think it's an important step in the right direction- even if it isn't necessarily the perfect direction

appeal to authority is a logical fallacy
Appeal to idiocy is a logical fallacy.
Understanding Maths, Computer Science, or other advanced subject matter doesn’t require “authority”. Just some brain cells. If you’re stuck at jpeg, that’s on you. Maybe get educated.

While obviously million dollar ape pics are a fad, I do think there's plenty of good use cases for NFTs. I also think ticketing is actually a good use case. Its tricky with the way venues are linked to specific ticketing companies, but I think festivals definitely have an angle. There's way less overhead if you use NFTs because people are literally getting rewarded to run the network, so no, $50 fees won't be necessary to keep the whatever it is afloat. The festival can set a royalty % so that they actually make money on the secondary market, which they don't now. Just use a network like Solana or an Ethereum L2 and its cheap and fast. Cuts out the middle man, festival makes more money while customers pay less or the same, and people can exchange tickets more easily and more quickly

Dunning-Kruger.
could you perhaps link up where i said "jpeg"
Calling NFTs jpegs is a sentiment. I never said you used that term, but I think we all would agree your viewpoint aligns with that sentiment.
Side note: I found your “appeal to authority” retort especially comical considering bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, a literal anonymous person that refused to share his identity because he didn’t want to become an authority undermining the entire concept. Or the fact that one of the frameworks behind blockchain technology is decentralization so that we can eventually move away from your “authority”. But I digress.
NFT tickets: 1. Removes ticket registration issues. 2. Better security to eliminate counterfeit ticket issues. 3. Transfers are easier, especially without having registration issues. Showing up to an event with a secondary purchase currently can be a mess. 4. Removes scalping. NFTs will allow for resale pricing caps, etc. 5. Resale ticket profits for artists / venues, etc.
Instead of clogging up multiple pages with nonsense, literally go to fucking google and type “NFT ticketing”. There are plenty of articles and company websites that are available to read.

Ooh, excellent, a big list of nonsense that you got off google and decided looked credible enough. Let's dive in
1. Removes ticket registration issues.
What are "ticket registration issues"? I'm quite sure I've never had one, never mind one that would have been solved by an immutable ledger
2. Better security to eliminate counterfeit ticket issues.
Already covered this. Ticket security is a solved problem
3. Transfers are easier, especially without having registration issues. Showing up to an event with a secondary purchase currently can be a mess. 4. Removes scalping. NFTs will allow for resale pricing caps, etc. 5. Resale ticket profits for artists / venues, etc.
You're not accomplishing 4 and 5 without throwing 3 in the garbage. Let's say I score 4-ticket to the phish new year's show and I want to dole them out to my friends. Under your system, I have to get them into the NFT ecosystem (Will they have to buy ethereum? Do you want to ban my friends from buying tickets from me using cash or venmo? If not, you've just lost your scalping ban and pricing caps) and then pay an additional fee for each transfer to make sure the promoter gets their share of the "resale". Oh, and if a mistake is made at any point and tickets get transferred to the wrong person or the wrong amount of money is sent, guess what, immutable ledger, tough luck
Congratulations, you've made the ticket buying process a big pain in the ass with no benefits to speak of! Blockchain!

You don't need eth to create a wallet. And also if they are right next to you you can scan the wallet qr code to transfer. They also have ENS names instead of long addresses too if you so desire.

OK so if the money exchange is separate from the blockchain transaction you haven't actually done anything about scalping/price caps/resale fees not going to the artist

Yeah I mean this just sounds like the "if guns were banned you could still get guns" argument

Except it's not at all because changing ticketing systems and not actually doing anything to prevent scalping is not a scalping ban analogous to a gun ban
You could pass a law to ban scalping or convince stubhub/ticketmaster to enforce face value and that would be analogous but you don't need a blockchain to do that

You could just say "I don't have the capacity to argue against your points" instead of this weird shit where you pretend to be too cool to discuss the thing you're so excited about that's gonna change the world

You're not even making good arguments? You're falsely saying #3 won't work and that automatically discounts #4 and #5. You're just wrong, man, and its clear you are unfamiliar with the tech you're shitting on. I'm not going to die on the hill of NFTs, but you would really benefit from doing some research on the topic and maybe also some meditation to be honest

If i'm so wrong why does everyone keep short circuiting when asked to explain literally anything about it

everyone is explaining it and you're just saying it's wrong when it's not? It's alright to be uninformed, but don't be uninformed and arrogant
