Erika de Casier - Sensational
This was one where I listened to the singles so much by the time the album came out it fell a little flat, but I listened to the singles so much I still have to vote for it
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
HM: Babe Rainbow - Changing Colours black midi - Cavalcade Dave Harrington - Big Shapes Vol. 1 Dorothea Pass - Anything Can't Happen Iceage - Seek Shelter Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR Sons of Kemet - Black To The Future Squid - Bright Green Field
A lot of really solid stuff in May but none that totally ended up grabbing me or blowing me away.
you're the only other person (other than myself) that I heard liking this album
Kim smoltz as well!
(I don't hate it but I don't think it lived up to my own hype)
As the biggest St. Vincent fan on the board it took a while. Listened to it on the car on the way to Atlanta last weekend and it finally clicked. At first it seems very foreign for her, but I started picking up heavy vibes that almost take me back to her first 2 albums. The playing is phenomenal.

That solo at the end of Live In The Dream gives me the goosebumps each time

That was the moment in the car when I was whoa! Wait a minute. I got chills.
Maybe I'll have to give Daddy's Home some more attention. I was digging the singles but the album overall felt caught between two sides of her that didn't always reconcile or complement. The instrumentation and production throughout is pretty fantastic, but her vocal performances and the songs fell short for me the 2 or 3 times I listened through.
I like the Squid record a lot, but out of post punk stuff from last month I've found myself coming back to black midi and Iceage more often

So on my 3rd listen I finally came around and I’m giving my very late vote to St. Vincent.

I was the first person to vote for it! I love it. It’s AOTY contender for me. If you go back and listen to her old albums, there are songs on Daddy’s Home that reflect them all. It has an overall theme and vibe, but it sounds distinctly St. Vincent. It’s far from a departure
not to be That Girl, but just a friendly reminder to folks that you gotta vote with the image of the album--makes it a lot easier to track what is a vote

The new Sleater-Kinney album is shockingly good for a band who ditched one of the best rock drummers out there to make the most generic indie rock album of their career
