*Oscars would've ate that shit up, movies about movies is basically halfway to a statue. can't believe a tv show about the history of tv shows w two accomplished movie stars and a top tier support with a guesting Evan Peters, with witches and androids, lost to a show about chess.

I loved queens gambit. I watched it twice and I’m probably gonna watch it again in a couple of weeks. But I don’t watch a lot of tv. The only other show (nominated) I’ve watched was the mare of eastberg or whatever it was called, the boys, some of Lovecraft country and some of Wanda vision (which I didn’t care for).
i briefly peeked into the r/television emmy's live discussion thread and people were dunking all over cedric the entertainer, mostly multiple people saying "more like cedric the NON-entertainer".
when i defend award show hosts i feel like stewie defending jay leno on family guy, but come on, cedric's stand up portions were perfectly fine and humorous. some of the sketches were dumb (do we really need to do the fly on pence thing again, and the whole boat sketch was bad), but some were funny (the non-emmy winners support group), but otherwise cedric was actually getting laughs in a tough room. i don't know what people expect from an awards show host, it's a tough gig.

a lot of it did feel a little dated but it didn't bother me. I thought he was a solid, safe choice.
biggest issue with the emmys tonight is i won't be able to watch HoD until tomorrow now, meanwhile the HoD thread keeps getting bumped to the top of recent posts and i want to click on it so bad.
tried getting my mom to fill out and send me her ballot but she apparently no longer knows anything about tv that isn't medical, police or fire shows.
My mom loves the "Chicago" shows which is like Chicago pd, Chicago fire department, and I think maybe an ems show? Idk but its like her marvel universe where they crossover and it's all the same kinds of stories you have seen in law and cop serials for years.
She also watches/binges tons of whatever is trending or popular on streaming but I consider her a half-warcher because she literally will watch hours and hours of a show and not be able to tell me any character names. Like she's in front of the TV but really not retaining much. Texting, paying bills, extra work etc.
Getting mad about Julia Garner winning? Couldn't be me.
She's great and that one scene was otherworldly. But I really wanted Kim to win. I think she has one more shot next year because of the split season.
I have no hope she’ll be nominated. It’ll be so far from voters minds and there will be a ton of new shows with more hype leading to nominations. It took years for her to even get nominated now. Oh well.
