I am very here for reactions that are not slobbering all over Brady's knob.
Fair. I saw a post today recognizing that Brady's last time on the field was "coming back" against the Rams that did not recognize that a) the Rams choking helped even up that score a lot and b) is it really coming back if you don't win? I am also pre annoyed at how many times we'll hear "Is the next Tom Brady somewhere on the board?" during draft season and how many times he'll get brought during the actual super bowl and the first week of next season.
Oddly, I expected to rejoice at the announcement, but I'm actually kind of sad. I've seen a couple posts about it, but it may even be more that he's the last guy from an era retiring. For me, that era ran the course of my young adulthood into fatherhood and middle age. There's a lot of great talent coming up in the game. It's just a little sad to recognize that I'm at the life stage where I have solid adult memories of a lot of the broadcasters actually playing.
Trevon Diggs basically plays like a young Marcus Peters on KC. High risk, high reward. He ball hawks like no other, but he takes too many risks and focuses on turnovers a little too much. It leaves him burnt on what should be simple coverages. His tackling leaves a lot to be desired too.. but with time I'm sure he'll clean it up and be more balanced. Only year 2

LOL the day Brian Flores accuses the Giants of a sham interview, the Vikings conduct a sham interview with Patrick Graham with Harbaugh widely expected to get the job.
But sure, NFL, there's no merit to this. 1 black head coach currently (there were 11 in 2011!) suggests at least that Rooney Rule isn't working.

Jerry hired Mike McCarthy after interviewing only him and Marvin Lewis. The Texans hired David Culley as a stop-gap so they could hire a Good Christian Man who has never coached football. It's all a sham and they almost certainly are racists. Hope Flores wins.
What they need more than anything is for it to get into discovery so that the NFL has to show their dirty laundry. Its what they avoided with Kap when they settled.

Well, Flores did mention God and does have Patriots connections. He does have a chance, theoretically.
But really though, he'll wind up at South Central Louisiana State.

I just can't feel that much sympathy for Flores when he wants the 23 time accused rapist as his QB

We interviewed him. Doug P, some others. Still think it will be Allen but I’m glad we are connecting with everyone. Don’t want to leave any stones unturned. Rizzi, Leftwich, late on Daboll, etc.

It's not exactly clear that Flores wanted Watson. With that coming out after his termination, I question the motives of the Dolphins in that situation in leaking that info.
Also, if Ross was really trying to lose games, he should lose the team. But we don't hold rich white guys accountable for anything.

I'm fine w people wanting to lose to get better picks
I don't think the problem is specifically in the league not hiring Poc HCs, because the coordinator pool/college head coach pool, there were 14 black head coaches in fbs out of over 100 in 2020 if this search is correct.
the problem w the rule is having to have the sham interview even if the guy you want is the obvious slam dunk like Harbaugh
it's hard to tell if Bieniemy is waiting for the right job, or to take the Chiefs over, DeMeco is turning down interviews to stay in SF, but they both seem sought after
even without the Watson thing, the Bills OC seems like a great choice over Flores despite the dolphins having one big run, he's under .500 over two years, not a lot of coaches get more years w that record
the Texans seem like a special case of awful so I'd buy it with them, but he might not want to coach here

I read all these articles about his claim and still not seeing the racist aspect directed specifically towards his situation. It is a shame there's only one POC head coach in the NFL but there needs to be something more tangible then, "I didn't get the job" or "I was fired" as the basis for your entire claim that it was due to race. And I agree about these interview mandates... having them in place just to say you're doing something to address equality is counter-productive because these candidates that don't get the job are going to tell they're disingenuous.
Seems like he can pretty well demonstrate that his interview was a sham if the Giants had made up their mind. Whether that's racial discrimination or not might be more difficult to prove, but if the Rooney Rule was instituted to combat admittedly racist hiring practices, and it's being made a mockery of, it follows that the hiring practices are still racist.
If the stuff about the owner paying him to lose is true and can be proven that's a massive scandal on its own. It's one thing to trade players away and tank, but throwing games is completely unacceptable. Gambling is far too important to the NFL.
