I think it was pretty much the consensus that the Rams overpaid, but the Lions were trading away by far the best player in the two deals, while taking on a four-year contract. Stafford is good, Goff is not good, Wentz is even worse. The Colts are taking a pretty huge risk banking on Wentz on that. He was horrendous this year. One of the worst starting QBs in the league. The situations are not comparable. There was actually a market for Stafford.
Carson wants Reich to show him how to play QB again. Seems he was more excited to listen to him rather than Doug. Reich reigned his ass in and made him run the offense the way it should and not heroic bs every play. And I dont wanna hear Deshaun being worth 4 first round picks or some shit anymore. The real trade market just showed you what you should expect. I still wish the Panthers offer was put onto the table for Philly to consider.
And the conditions for the 2nd to turn into a 1st are 75% playtime or at least 70% of snaps taken plus indy goes to the postseason.
Now the stupid ass rumors of philly taking a qb at 6 better go away. They either get Smith or Chase at 6 cause the Dolphins can only pick one of em.
I don't think Wentz is as bad as this year would suggest, and honestly the rumors of him being toxic would be more unsettling than his play for me if I was running a club. but this in no way effects the watson deal.

I'm happy he's gone and won't be surprised if he improves in Indy.
His best season was 2017, and other than that, played around the league average. Indy is taking a big gamble trying to "fix" him, but they have the cap space to take the gamble with how good their roster is.

The Colts were much better on the o line this year, but the Eagles were underrated as a unit, even after the injuries. They weren't garbage, they were middle of the pack, and Wentz's poor play can't really be attributed to them.

if everyone around you has to be good for you to be good...you're not good.
up until this year, the OL was top 5, there was talent in the backfield, a very good TE group, and we only lacked WR talent. Keep in mind, doug was OC in KC when they went an entire season without a WR TD, so i'm right to be skeptical about Doug's ability to scheme plays to WRs. think the most catches a WR had under doug was like 75.
like I said, I still think Wentz can be good, but his ceiling was 4 years ago and he's regressed every year since.
Philly averaged 5 yards a carry which was 3rd in the league and the Colts averaged 4.4 which was 14th so Idk about that one.
Wasn't Johnathan taylor out for a bit
Nah. He played 15 games this year. He just wasn't good until late in the year. He ended up averaging 5 himself on the season, but Hines was a pretty good RB too. Wilkins was kind of a drag.
Sanders missed more time than Taylor, for sure. Played in 12 games, I think.

Colts probably will make the playoffs so a 1st and 3rd is good especially when you're unloading a bad contract but idk how much dead cap space that leaves. I think the Colts really need to explore solid, long-term solutions though. You have a balanced team and a good coach and it won't be long before people start leaving or wanting to get paid more.
Time will tell but Taylor did indeed sit out a lot this season as his ability to pass protect was questionable for the first half of the season. Once the bench taught him how to pass block at least adequately he came in and scored 16 TDs this year. Sanders may prove to be the better back long term but he had 6 TDs (did miss time to injury tho). Taylor came into the nfl with a lot of mileage on his tires from Wisconsin so he could wear down earlier than some RBs. Regardless, Rivers probably required more pass protection than just about any qb in the league. Pretty slow and just sat in the pocket. You could argue that Wentz will have better offensive line, more feared running game, better coaching and certainly better targets. It will be interesting but I think the colts are the favorite to win the South. The draft is interesting. Colts rumored to be interested in trading up in first round and pick another North Dakota St QB. That would be as risky as Wentz but the front office has been right more than they have been wrong.
Edit: I hope Pablo calms down from the political thread before he critiques this.

I don't care enough about your post to comment on it. The Colts had a good offensive line. The Eagles had an ok one. I've made my thoughts on those things clear.

What if I told you that both Wentz and Taylor both used to DH for their high School baseball teams?
Kidding aside, I hope life is treating ya ok. I know there is a lot of people hurting these days.
