So, I recently realised I had never listened to Fleetwood Mac's Rumors before. I saw it on a list of "Albums to listen to before you die" and it got me thinking – what other albums do you guys think are must-listens? These can be anything from the obvious classics, to modern day icons.
We have a thread for your favourite albums of all time, our top rated of the year, albums that changed everything, etc. But I didn't see anything like this. So tell me, what albums do you think everyone needs to hear before they die?
I'll start with a couple of classic, iconic albums.
when i listen to joy division i simultaneously am sad about Ian Curtis, and happy thinking about New Order listening to disco music to cheer themselves up and being introduced to post-disco in NYC in 1981 and saying "fuck it let's make dance records".
Cap'n Mac is going to kill me, but I’ve never listened to this all the way through.
Its one of those records that blew shit wide open for me. I was coming off a few years of almost pure jamband mode and somehow heard about this record, torrented it I think, put it on and was like wtf is this shit. Had never heard anything that sounded like it.
I listened to this on my way home today and it was a beautifully made album with great transitions between songs and a good flow. But I think “Songs in the Key of Life” is probably better imo.

I’m pretty sure we saw Peter Hook do this album in full a few years ago.... but I’ve never sat down and listened to the studio version. I’m not a big JD person tho. But I’ll give it a shot.
This reminds me of how we need a record of the week club thread where a member recommends an album for the group to listen to and discuss.
This sounds cool. I'd be down to run this for at least the rest of the year if there was interest.
Edit: If you didn't want to, of course!
