There is and should be inherent value in dead/inactive acts but it shouldn't be taken too overboard.
I kinda disagree, rare/dead acts can be cool but just because something is rare doesn't make it better. I'd rather see Gorillaz than Blur any day of the week.
Well I mean I wouldn't blame you there because Blur hasn't been inactive for that long and I would be surprised if they didn't get back together at some point. The one's we're more talking about are mostly artist you'll never see again and that counts for something.
Oh and people acted (maybe jokingly) like Aretha was a better pick having died mid-draft, which is silly. She's a great pick up and down.
I agree that she is a good pick but there's a little added value when an act dies very recently or breaks up recently. Like, I wouldn't be shocked this draft if Daft Punk is #1 overall pick or even top 5. Which would be wild because there's so many better artist available here.
Why would I prefer a good lineup of a bunch of acts I’ve seen and can see again to a lineup of acts I’ll never have the chance to see?
no ones telling you what to prefer all im saying is don't let a singular inactive act outweigh all the work that goes into drafting, scheduling, and creating everything about these festival concepts we come up with. kinda makes the whole thing feel pointless.
I'm agreeing with what Pepe is saying here which is weird because I think he goes too far in the other direction and books too many active and current artists that are on top of their game today.
Basically imo if you're telling me you're going to see Buddy Holly instead of Radiohead because Buddy Holly is dead you're taking the dead thing overboard. But if you're gonna see Radiohead over Miles Davis you're too far the other way.

Idk she was super old and not really performing anymore as it was. I understand why people think more of someone after they passed but in Infinity getting an artist in their prime should be weighed more heavily than just whether or not they're dead.

just to clarify, the intent here is just "book a cool ass lineup", right? and it's not gonna be like some ticket sale bullshit?
can we also establish that “Infinity” includes acts that also still exist today, and not give dead people ridiculous amounts of extra value than we actually should, just because they’re dead / inactive?
I.e. can we please avoid
“X lineup has an amazing runs of acts that I really like, but Y lineup has John Lennon & The Yoko Ono band so that’s automatically better”
I lost so I doubt that was happening
you also won the first one with really little amount of them so I don't think that happens as much as it's made out to

Floyd Rage Winehouse Reed CCR was a heater. Still mad.

i mean yeah i guess i'm still going "too far the other way" because although we've been spoiled by Radiohead tours the past few years, they're still rare / diverse in their shows enough that i'd see them over Miles. don't get me wrong the man is a legend but i'm gonna take the show that i know is guaranteed to make me cry like a baby.
but yes i agree with your sentiment, and i am gonna try and lean a bit more towards inactives this time around.

i'm just talking about a lot of what i was hearing last game.

There's definitely still room for personal taste and favorites of course. If you love an artist enough that they make you cry then for sure go see that. I'd probably gonna see a Lorde show over a lot of other dead or inactive artist.

i think you would have had a great time at Infinite 2020
She's been too swamped for any of these things for months. It's too bad because she had an interesting idea for a draft that I hope we get a chance to do someday.
I think something people are leaving out in that, no it really isn't a time suck. these farm animals will tag you a thousand times every 40-50 seconds if you get to lagging and if you aren't about that life it could really make you hate it.
I work during the week in person, so I don't check the board as much as some would probably like.
just want to reiterate that maddog is on point here. full disclosure, we're at our most active during the work week and we get so into it that if you're not on enough and repeatedly hold up the draft you will be bugged a lot and start to resent it.
