The set times thing has always been maddening to me.
Small things change (even after the set times are official), but they have this info largely finalized well before the week of.
Not getting this info to people sooner hurts smaller artists in my opinion as Coachella has a massive line-up and the last minute nature of the rollout makes it much harder for people to get familiar with acts that might fill a gap or could convince their friends to head in early one day.
At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, it just feels disrespectful to the people investing serious money and time to attend that they can't/won't share that info sooner when other major festivals have been doing it for ages.

Having these set times in a reasonable amount of advance matters because I have limited time to invest in listening to artists that I can see at the festival. I'm gonna have a better time at artists sets where I know their music a bit better, can sing a long with, etc.
Like it would be good to know if someone I'm kind of interested in seeing on Saturday is up against Caroline Polachek. I'm gonna see Caroline, so knowing who else opposes her lets me not waste time listening to those artists and spending time with artists I might see at another time.

I buy this but it cuts the other way too: not having the set times gets me to listen to everything. Even if I don't see them at Coachella I'll often see them later/remain a fan
At least its not like Warped Tour where you dont see the times til you walk in and the act you wanted to see might be on at 11am or 9pm. But either way youre showing up early and hope the draw is in your favor.

It is still good to do this, but there is just too much good music out there. I know I won't get to it all. I am fucking amazed at how many bands, artists, and dj's some of you all know. It would be nice to focus on who I can see at the fest and then get to as much of the other good stuff later

I went to Warped Tour once, and that was so annoying. Missed A Day To Remember because they opened one of the stages.
