Consistent theme with the Yuma appears to be it wasn’t full when entering but they weren’t allowing people in for GA, where VIP had zero issues. This makes me think they set max capacity for GA at like 60% of the total capacity and then the VIP perk is you essentially can always get in without issue.
Would like to hear back if anyone went to Peggy Gou. Was thinking of trying to show up 30 minutes before her set next weekend, but starting to wonder if that’s even going to get it done.

oh man, that's got me worried for Daphni too if there's a ton of people left over from PDM.
Amazing first day, and it was so good to be back again, after impatiently waiting for years! We got there around 1 pm, and after spending some time in line for the lockers, walked around the fields to see the amazing art.
First set for me was Rochelle Jordan, which played to only a couple hundred people at the DoLaB. She had some technical issues (her vocals weren’t loud enough), but it was still a very fun set regardless. Went to MIKA on the main stage right after - another good set, much better than I expected tbh. We took a little break after (because it was so hot) and went to Tiki Bar. As others mentioned, the entrance is right next to AmEx lounge - the drinks were whatever and I didn’t like the location as much as last year’s.
Next was Carly Rae Jepsen > Arcade Fire, for both sets it was easy to find a really good spot in the tent, close to the stage. My first time seeing Carly, and it was such a great performance. Won’t add much to what’s already been said, but obviously AF was amazing, and I felt so lucky to experience that. Sad to miss Anitta and Grupo Firme, but I heard from my partner that they were both great. Another time.
We took another break after AF to get some food, I was exposed to Madeon’s set a little while waiting in line for food, and I must say it was miserable for me to hear that music, although the visuals were good. We caught The Avalanches next. I was skeptical after seeing them few years ago (was very unimpressed), but this was a much different setup and very fun. Strongly recommend for WK2 folks. My group wanted to see Big Sean after and I wasn’t originally planning to catch him, but so glad I did! Honestly the surprise of the day for me.
Finished the day with Harry Styles. He’s such a star, amazing performance. Not much more needs to be said. Had to leave early so that we could beat the traffic (did day parking), but we were so wrong thinking that as it took quite some time to leave. Literally nobody to direct the traffic flow. I read that people even waited longer. Hopefully they fix it today, but my first intent is to leave even earlier. And not want to do day parking again. And that merch line looked really long lol.

I’ve been dreaming of yesterday for years and I’m still glowing with happiness. Hopped on Reddit and immediately saw nothing but “it was a shit show” comments lol

LMAO. yeah I was like "did the reddit people and I go to the same festival?"
To be fair, the people who have a miserable experience are way more likely to run to Reddit and complain. All the people having fun aren't going to report back until Monday.
So if Arcade Fire is only playing W1, do you think 2 will get an add like that? Or it was just a unique one off type of deal that ending up working out?

Like I said elsewhere, I would be both surprised and upset if there’s no AF and no replacement for AF, and it would be bizarre if they just left the Mojave empty for two hours at sunset. Would also be weird if they substantially change the set times for W2 to avoid that gap. I dunno. I really hope we get something but I’m not sure there’s much that could be as joyous as that set was.
Just a hunch, but i feel like it would make a lot of sense for them to put someone like LCD in the Arcade Fire slot next week. they have a live show ready and have just been doing random one offs. and they would fit that same audience
So heres my day: Logic1000 > Raveena > Still Woozy > Carly Rae Jepsen > Arcade Fire > Some of Madeon from far away > Phoebe up close for like 6 songs, rest from the back.
We left early because both of us were way more exhausted and dehydrated than we thought we would be so we’re heading in a bit later today. Prob aiming for like 3:00pm. Overall had an amazing day. The heat is insane, havent really had to deal with heat like that at any other fest ive been to but production is really top notch, people werent lying about that. Food options, while pricy, were quite good too. I love that so many of the stages are shaded tents though. definitely makes me prioritize artists playing on those stages early in the day. Production and lighting is absolutely top notch. I also gotta add, i dont think i could do camping, having a hotel has really been a blessing and having a/c and a real bed is such a huge plus. Due to the pricing of them being so inaccessible i may not be returning next year but i’m very glad to be able to go this year. now to rest more for Day 2!

It won’t be LCD. Al is on tour with Hot Chip and has dates surrounding W2. I’m still holding out hope for Arcade Fire, but am also expecting to get nothing which will suck. Soulwax would be legit tho.
If it's already a struggle to sell weekend 2 tickets, it wouldn't make sense to have a headliner size act like Arcade Fire weekend 1, and nothing weekend 2. Would make weekend 1 seem even more desirable in the presale. But, maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Had a great time yesterday but got pickpocketed during the Avalanches set in the Gobi. They got in my front pocket and took my wallet and custom earplugs. Such a drag. Registered at lost and found and got a notification that my ID was turned in, so that’s good.

Damn, I was thinking with Al there for hot chip it’d make sense but yeah, they’re in San Diego Friday.
Soulwax would be great but it’s not close to arcade fire level. The smile seems like the only similar cache replacement for a similar crowd I can think of.

Arctic Monkeys have a record coming. Nine Inch Nails have a show ready for Shaky, and there’s a chance Trent could guest with Danny Elfman. Chili Peppers?

Okay maybe it was just me but it definitely felt lighter crowd-wise than recent years. I was really shocked and how small Phoebe’s crowd was, and then I went over to Harry from Louis the Child around 11:15 and Harry was not as crowded as Gaga or Ariana was at that time a few years ago. And then leaving the polo fields I usually expect to be much worse but there just wasn’t a TON of people this year?

Those first 2 are with primavera so I doubt it. Maybe strokes? Promote it ain’t no picnic. RHCP can’t be on any stage but main even as a surprise add.

His crowd went all the way till the palm trees, it looked like on the stream.. So, it was.. big, no?

Really wouldn’t be hard to adjust the set times to fill in the AF gap. They would just switch back to whatever the schedule was before they decided to add AF. Also wouldn’t be all that weird to leave the Mojave empty considering they left the Main empty in 2019
