Arlo had Phoebe last week and vice versa. Wonder if people were bummed that it wasnt Bieber with Daniel.
Coachella Day 1! Drove through a gorgeous part of California where the terrain transitions from mountains to desert to get to Coachella. When I first arrived there were some hiccups I had to deal with. The most annoying being lines. The line to get into Day Parking took about an hour. Then I had to wait about hour to get into PDM (had to listen to the first 20 minutes from outside). Once I got in though, the mood was cranked to 11 and it never stopped the entire day. I saw some amazing sets. Carly Rae Jepson absolutey owned it. Grupo Firme was a special and unique experience. Run The Jewels came with a ton of energy, but hands down the best sets of the day were Amyl and the Sniffers and Baby Keem. Amy Taylor is an absolute beast of positive but ferocious energy. She slays the stage. Keem showed that he has a bright future ahead of him. His show was creative, energetic, and captivating. It doesn’t hurt that he brought out King Kendrick 👑 My rankings for day 1 would be.

After three years away from the festival, this wound up being one of the earliest arrivals we’ve had. No regrets, Meute was amazing, but we were wiped by the end and I don’t hate that Harry ended ten mins early.
Was cold and my feet were killing me by the end of yesterday so I didn’t see as much of the Yung Bae/Madeon and King Gizz sets as I would have liked but I enjoyed both. But everyone was very good yesterday, kind of funny but 2 of my top 3 would probably be bands I didn’t think I was going to see but saw anyway - Pup and PDM. Kind of funny how that works out!
We were in line to get into Car Camping for 4+ hours yesterday - major buzzkill. Finally made it inside after setting up, but got to the Yuma line too late for PDM. Checked out The Chats instead, which were fun. Rest of the day we caught: Spiritualized, IDLES, RTJ, Amyl & the Sniffers and The Avalanches. Closed out the night with an awesome Gizzard set after giving Harry a try for a few songs.
Pretty hectic day making up the time we lost getting in. Hitting the grounds much earlier today to explore and check out Yard Act.

not doable since i’m on the other side of the country and am already taking that much time for Primavera 202x2. Would love to do that if i ever move out there someday though

Did the do lab text out the surprise guests yesterday? I got the texts all W1 but didn’t get anything yesterday. Would like to know what’s up tonight and tomorrow as there’s nothing really must see for me to close out the fest these two days.

Absolutely nuts day. Started off at MEUTE, who were excellent, then spent the next 3 hours or so in the Yuma, seeing Logic1000, Jayda G, and most of PDM. Grabbed a bit of food, got to Spiritualized a minute before they started and was about 5 feet away from Jason. Magical experience. Caught a couple IDLES and Marias songs before Madeon, who probably had the best visuals on the night. Chilled for a bit then saw the Avalanches and most of Ela Minus, got a decent spot for the first 30 minutes of Harry and ended the night at Gizz. Don’t think I’m gonna be doing this much today but no regrets
Really fun day 1 from start to finish. Started with MEUTE which was a great energetic way to start. Arooj was chill. Loved the Hu, and Mika was a party. My wife got ADA and got into PDM but I hadn’t gotten companion pass yet, so instead saw the Chats who were wild. Loved Spiritualized which thankfully wasn’t as much of a ghost town as I expected. I thought Marias were Ok, but people seemed to love it. Madeon was my best surprise of the day. Really incredible visuals and great flow musically - really impressed! Probably my second favorite set, after Amyl which I saw next. Incredible energy and I love that band. Capped off with Ela Minus and then Harry. Harry was enjoyable - was in front of ADA on left. Hated to skip Gizzard, but I will see them next week at Shaky Knees and also late night at Roo. Overall fun first day!
Anyone else hear about or experience the living hell that was leaving day parking last night? Didn’t move for a solid 2 hours. Didn’t know if this was because of another issue or just poor planning? Really put a damper on an otherwise perfect day.
And this is coming from someone who has done day parking every year. It’s usually, besides the walk, really smooth.

Incredible return back. I could get close to every act I wanted to see. It appeared everyone finished 10 mins early. Kinda sucked at first but it made seeing everything worked

Anyone else hear about or experience the living hell that was leaving day parking last night? Didn’t move for a solid 2 hours. Didn’t know if this was because of another issue or just poor planning? Really put a damper on an otherwise perfect day.
And this is coming from someone who has done day parking every year. It’s usually, besides the walk, really smooth.
Last week I stayed til it was over and when I got to my car there was already a mess. I started walking out when Lizzo was done and he said 4 songs left. Still heard Watermelon Sugar from the back. I got to my car when he was finishing and saw the fireworks. No problems getting out. Its deceiving cause if there were lots of people leaving but they were in the farthest part of 15. And that emptied out onto Monroe. That was different than last week when they just had everyone leave the way they came in. So if you were in that lot it couldve been it. I had seen a bunch of cars already gone where I was so maybe some people just made sure to avoid it at all costs.

What lot were you in? We were in 1B and they had us exit onto AVE 49 via the way we came in. Is their another exit out of 1B? Just trying to avoid this mess tonight.

Only complaint about yesterday was the weird delay in the video screens at times. During Mila the screen was a full second behind the audio/performer, very distracting to see it out of sync. Otherwise, super smooth festival, no issues with water, no sound issues or late starts, great crowds. So glad to be back.
Day 1 was amazing. So good to be back. Saw 18 total artists play. Obviously, a lot of partial sets in there. Started off with Meute- so fun! Spiritualized, The Hu, The Avalanches, Idles, Mika, and King Gizz were the favorites for me. Easy entry, security check was minimal, allowed me to bring a full hydro flask of ice cold water, which was nice. Security on the fields was going out of their way to check on people. Got asked twice, while sitting between sets, if I was feeling ok or just resting. Security was handing out free waters at The Hu. Sets started on time, my food was good, and the lines in the craft beer garden were tolerable. Ending the day with King Gizzard was the icing on top. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, leaving was a disaster. Left the polo fields at 12:45. Didn’t leave the parking lot until 3am.
