I've read on the Bonnaroo Digest e-mail that there will be a new security outfit for 'Roo this year. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Has anyone had any bad experiences with searches at previous festivals? My friend said last year there was a security guard taking rips from some kid's pipe, so I know that the security was really laid back in past years, but any thoughts on this year? A couple spliffs never hurt anybody...

I worked last year taking tickets and trading them for armbands at the main gate and I'm going to work again this year. I noticed on the website this year that they said there would be more security checks and stuff like that, but I asked my boss about it and she said she hasn't heard anything about it. I'm wondering if they might set up search checkpoints before you get to the main gate or something. It sounds fishy to me, but I haven't been told specifically what they're talking about. I'll try to find out more though. I'd be sad if all that wonderfulness couldn't get pass the gates where I could buy it! Love and rockets Hil

Last year your backpack got searched before entering the shows and centeroo. No big deal, no pat downs or cavity searches (drat). Just dont try to smuggle glass(bottles) or cans into the venues, you should be fine.

I'm feeling conflicted about this.
The first year there were patdowns to get into the main stages, but no security at all for centeroo. You could come and go freely and take beers in if you wanted. There was also little or no checks before you got in.
The second year (wasn't there) I heard that peoples entire cars were being searched to get in. Inside no pat downs? But checked your backpacks?
I just got my tickets and see that there is a piece of paper that says "all cars are subject for search before entering" or some jazz like that.
The first year I got some nugs taken by the only guy that was confiscating things when you came in.
Can anyone shed some definite light on this frustrating situation? ???

Last year they did the standard (open your trunk and lift a few items) search and checked that everyone had tickets. There were 2 ways into centeroo we used, the one nearest the main stage was no problem with only a few board security people making half-hearted pats at or near your pockets and waving you through. The other gate was manned by getto gangstas who put their slimy paws in your pockets and bags and liberated anything they thought was worth keeping. I even had my 7-month-old son searched and was very vocal about then touching him. I later put two very crappy diapers in the cargo pockets of my shorts and went back through the getto gate and let them grab some real squishy diapers and laughed in their faces as I turned and went back out to my camp.

Im glad I remembered the getto guards, I need to look through my electronics box and find some phat capacitors to charge up and stick in my pockets. Ill put the damn voltage to their hind-ends this year.
