I think it would be cool if each Townie could start a ref-sanctioned pm thread to one person. Could start it at any point of the game.
When I was getting into the zone of pretending I was Town last game, I wanted to PM Potent to let him know that I was only superstacking him to see the reaction, and that I would be moving back to Theo ultimately.
Idea is not fleshed out, but feel like there is something there. It wold be fun if you sent a PM to someone who was in mafia and they had to further pretend to be town, and got to report their findings back to mafia. Would add a new layer of potential manipulation from both sides.

he said that in theirs, anyone can PM fellow players--townies and those with roles--and people can be as honest or as dishonest as they want in those conversations. sounds chaotic and great.
yeah ive been thinking about this all day and cant find out any downside to it.

imo everything is on the table (except maybe screenshots, takes some of the fun out), but as far as harassment goes take it up with the actual board mods. I don't think the group we have here should make that an issue though

Actually I take that back I don’t know how many pms would be sent but I probably wouldn’t want to be in the middle of a bunch of random pms about mafia that don’t even apply to me
We could also try spicing up the mafia roles a little bit. In Town of Salem there’s a role called the framer, that chooses a town person to frame, and if the inspector checks that town, it would show as mafia. Or other ways to add confusion
That sounds interesting, can you write a rule for it that explains it for our game? Not that it would be used next game necessarily.
The Framer:
One mafia member will be assigned to be the Framer. They have the same abilities as a normal mafia member, but in addition: At night, they have the ability to frame a townsperson, to appear to the inspector as mafia instead of town. The duration of the frame is for the night, meaning if the inspector checks the townsperson the night after they were framed, they would appear as town. Only the assigned framer has the ability to frame, meaning if the framer is killed at any point during the game, the mafia no longer has the ability to frame.
I think I got the general idea across of what it would do, probably could use better wording if it goes in rules lol. Just from personal perspective, this gives mafia a reason to fight after an inspector calls them out as mafia, like tranter this past game. Doesn't really help the given at all, but I think it does open up more opportunities for mafia to fake inspector and cause confusion and chaos while keeping role reveals the way they are (though it doesn't hurt to change them like we've discussed).
Idk I don't think it would actually be successful all that often, but I think its presence could implement some of the uncertainty role reveals took away
