I didnt cite anything I said probably lol. Definitely dont think any rich people are worrying about mining though
Have fun living in your fantasy world. Mining is big business.
This shows that the majority of mining corporations are just pools which is quite literally a mass of regular ass people connecting to the same place (https://medium.com/swlh/market-overview-of-bitcoin-mining-32f65a51ef13)
Im also willing to bet that the "unknown" is just all of the people doing it themselves. Crypto is nowhere near widespread enough for corporations and elites to be taking advantage of it. I don't think George Bush is gonna be buying all the GTXs in his area for .0000000001 BTC

This is like arguing that banks aren't big businesses because a lot of people put their money in accounts there. Or Amazon Web Services isn't a big business because a bunch of different people and companies are using their services.

Eh I kind of see the parallel. Mining at least actually gives money back to the people

It's not as simple as "clean energy is cheaper thus people will chose it because they can profit more." Oversimplifies that most utilities inflate the cost of clean energy to keep fossil fuel infrastructure online, and that they have a vested interest in getting every last penny they can out of fossil fuels and the current utility model before they continue to decline. Renewable also doesn't necessarily meen clean. We are still heavily dependent on fossil/dirty fuels. NFT's and Crypto are a violent, environmentally unfriendly way for people who already have capital to throw it around to get richer.
a bunch of people on this forum think its ok to waste massive amounts of energy on solving sudokus if you might make a few bucks off it, it's not exactly environmentalist central, good luck OP

NFT's (and crypto) will never gain mainstream acceptance so long as their real world value is tied to fiat (USD, Euro, etc) currency. I don't see anyone jumping at the bit to get their employers to pay them in Ethereum instead of USD.

I do see this as a roadblock for crypto for sure. It’s essentially currency trading on steroids. Sure, it’s a booming industry and I certainly see it sticking around in some capacity, but in large, people are lazy and will just accept the money how it’s given to them.
Like, America still uses feet as a unit of measurement and is currently in the midst of arguing if certain jobs should allow for murdering civilians. Crypto does not seem like the game changer that some think it is. Idc either way, and I guess for all the people invested in it, I hope I eat my words there.

I should've prefaced by saying I support the concept of cryptocurrency, and even utilize it for certain transactions. That being said, I don't see your typical salaried employee wanting to be compensated in BTC/ETH instead of USD anytime soon. Cryptocurrency and gold have a lot in common in terms of their role in the current financial paradigm.
