Anyone collect in here? Over the past year (especially with being at the house so much) I've gotten more involved in toys and various collections in general. Going back and looking through my old stuff, while also being a father now, has ignited my interest. I am surprised this is not already a thread, but I would have to assume we have more collectors here besides myself.
What kinds of things do you collect? Seen anything cool lately you want to share? Any particular releases or upcoming lines you're excited for? Feel free to share news or anything related. Let your nerd flag show and embrace the wholesomeness.
I am currently collecting the following things beyond music: trading cards, wrestling figures of all types, VHS tapes!, Pops, various lines like Neca/Loyal Subjects/etc.
Down to talk any of this. Also curious to see if anyone here has any obscure collections going or ones designated to a particular character.

Yeah I collect video games/consoles sort of, anything pokemon related (cards, stuffed animals, miniature terrariums), POPs, random anime figures, and I mean really anything that catches my eye. I got one of the Gorillaz vinyl figures (2D) and I also have a body building squirtle statue

Nice! I have been considering those Gorillaz figures for awhile but they are pricey. I've been doing games too. Are you just buying used or what? I have seen some pretty crazy displays of new in box cartridge games. No idea how much something like that would cost, but definitely way out of my price range. Are you in to certain POP lines or just whatever strikes your interest?

I was trying to get all the Scott pilgrim ones but they're all like $100 if you don't get them right when they launch. I've got some Pokemon ones, stranger things, spiderman, bob ross, toucan sam, and some anime ones

Oh and no real display for my video games. I have one of those cube entertainment centers from Ikea and I've got my Gamecube, Wii, PS4, switch, and PS5 hooked up with all my games around the shelf
I don’t collect, but my parents forced me to take my childhood toys a few years ago; I now have some boxes in my basement filled with original TMNT and Star Wars action figures. IIRC, the Star Wars action figures in their Darth Vader case were worth a little bit of money. I luckily have the DV cases and most of the action figures but growing up not rich, we played with our toys so mine are beat to shit.

You would be surprised the kind of value some of that stuff holds these days. I could be wrong but I feel like the price of most collectibles, especially iconic action figure series, have gone up exponentially over the last couple of years. Were those Star Wars figs from the OG run or the Force Awakens series from the 90’s?

If you're talkin' the OG Darth Vader case that held those Kenner figures from the late '70s that could be worth somethin'.
I used to be much more of a collector, but my wife and I are tryin' to downsize the amount of shit we have. And most of my shit is collectible-y shit. I have a bunch of loose Star Wars figures from the '70-80's includin' a Han Solo in his camo coat from RotJ in box. That and my Storm Trooper Luke Skywalker were a big deal to me when I was younger. I still have an entire mint-in-box set of the first run or two of the '90s Power of the Force collection along with some exclusive mail-in toys (like Force Ghost Obi-Wan). I wanna get rid of all my Star Wars stuff!
Then I've got a shit ton of American comics and Japanese manga (and anime) that I've slowly been auctionin' off over the last three or four years. Although I will be keepin' some of my favorites like Thunderstrike, Generation X, and a few crossover/event titles.
My biggest collection though is my physical music library. Over the last year I have finally digitized all of the CDs that I accumulated over the years. Well over 500 official and at least 300 bootleg/CDR, that I've taken down to 100 or less. Really just tryin' to hold onto autographed stuff, or small local artists that have no social media presence 15 years after they've quit music. It has not been easy sayin' goodbye to all of that, but it's not like I pop in a CD and whip out the linear notes all that often anymore.
They’re the OG Star Wars ones. I’ve got 2 Darth Vader cases, both with different figures in each. I’ve probably lost 1/3 of the actual action figures as a child. I also have the Millenium Falcon from that era as well. My TMNT, I still have the turtle van and all sorts of different turtles (maybe a 100 loose figures). I remember having the underground sewer home as a kid as well but I assume that got thrown out because it was larger and bulky.
Husband collects Gashapon. Also Japanese anime figures. And puts them in display cases. He has thousands of Japanese anime DVDs.
I tolerate it.
I do have one early 2000s Yamato or Bandai release of a transformable jet fighter toy from Macross, an armored VF-1J that has stayed in near mint condition with it’s box. Hell yes I took it out and have tried to transform it a few times since pickin’ it up in maybe 2003/04. It is not easy. I’ve seen mint-in-box copies goin’ fer a pretty penny on eBay, but I’m not ready to part with it yet. Although now that more Macross toys may FINALLY be legally sold here in the USA I’ll have to see if a newer/better version will be released.
I also have a few model kits from Five Star Stories that I always tell myself I’ll get to and paint/build one day. But who’m I kiddin’?
