I like the one Hallmark mystery movie of hers that I saw. She's like a contractor that also solves crimes. I haven't watch the rest of the series yet, though.
Curious and probably dumb question: Are fans of Sigur Ros fluent in icelandic? I've tried to listen to them in the past and struggle getting into them since I have no idea what they are saying. Kinda like J Balvin. Cool instrumentals, beats and rhythms though.
Welcome to another episode of Unpopular Opinions from Dan’ROO! I fuckin’ hate Sigur Ros. With a passion. It’s great that they’re as creative as they are. But I can’t fuckin’ stand their music. And I think a lot of this stems from a good friend and former roommate BLASTIN’ their music at all hours when we first moved in together. Did the same with Animal Collective. This was back in 2006, not sure that’s relevant, but fuck it I’m a little drunk.
We did not do Bonnaroo 2008 smartly. We partied waaayyy too hard and to fast. But I tried to get him to wake up to catch the LN Sigur Ros show and maybs give them a chance live. He refused to leave his tent, so I tried to drink another drink at camp, but passed back out.
On the not necessarily understandin’ the language but though, I listen to a fair share of bands that I can’t understand without readin’ translations (RAMMSTEIN), but love the fuck outta the music and vocal presentation itself!
lol very true. Reminds me of the comment a couple months ago. I cant remember who said it but it was gold. "People listen too Bob Moses vocals?" lol. Beats always get me moving but I could care less what they are saying.

“Carryin’ on in a weird made up dialect is ma thang!”
Saw sigur ros in a 1400 seat theater in Phoenix and it was phenomenal. The music was awesome sounding, but so powerful you could feel it vibrating your whole body. One of the only concerts I remember sitting down the whole time and just absorbing all the sound, aurally and physically. It was intense in the best way.
Being in a tent at bonnaroo, I didn't get that same experience but it was great to lie in the grass and listen. Someone had a great video/crowd audio (back when tapers were still a thing at bonnaroo) that I pulled off Dime back in the day. I should rip it back to a computer - haven't watched it in years because I don't have a DVD player anymore.

I've loved the outdoor Sigur Ros shows I've seen, but the sneaky truth about them is that they're better indoors, where you can drown in that sweet, sweet reverb off the walls on top of everything that's actually coming from the stage/PA. It just adds another layer to an already layer-rich experience.

I saw them outside once and you could hear crickets during the quiet parts. I saw them in a theater and it was a totally different animal. Both amazing.

no. some songs are in icelandic and others are hopelandic, which is just made up gibberish. you dont need to understand the lyrics imo because his voice is used more like an instrument, but you can look up the lyrics for some of the songs if you want. saw them in asheville like 4-5 years ago and they were amazing.

Hmmmm sounds like I need to see them indoors then! I will say we were deep in the tent in 2008, so I couldn't hear anything but their music, but I can understand your point during slower parts.

My mom and I will see Alanis at the Bridgestone Arena down in Nashville tomorrow night and my dad will drive us down there tomorrow morning. And we’re staying overnight at the Hilton in downtown Nashville and on Saturday, we’re flying to Los Angeles, California and staying three nights at the Hyatt LAX and we’ll do some planespotting and then we’re driving to Palm Springs.

Hearing the crickets wasn’t a bad thing. The only other show I can remember that happening was at a Gillian Welch show.
