Kind of thought I would take off festivals until 2022 - but damn, this is right up my alley. Has anyone went in the past? Curious about lodging options since it doesn’t look like camping is an option. Don’t love the thought of my group + thousand of others trying to catch Uber to get back to the downtown area after the shows are over.
Wow is right- at first glance I see 15 acts I’d want to see. It’s a long way from New Jersey for a 2-day fest, but we could always do a couple distillery tours and other stuff and make a trip of it...

This is tempting. My son has been begging me to go to a festival, and we’re just north of Cincinnati. But I also have my mom flying in that Monday morning to watch our son when we leave for Roo.
I was there a couple of years ago for the first show. Really like this festival. Small to moderate crowd size, better than average food and good bourbon. Two main stages with a couple of smaller ones split by a parking lot in between (filled with booths). Crowd control was very good although who's to say this year. If you are looking for a small festival with a laid back atmosphere its a good option. Anyway, I'm likely in for at least one day this year.

I just bought my tickets since I missed the boat on Bonnaroo tickets. It’s AC Entertainment, so based on my experience with Roo, Forecastle, and Homecoming, I have no doubt it will be well done.

Originally had plans to go to WonderBus that weekend for Wilco. But derailed that plan pretty quickly when this lineup dropped. Can’t pass up Jacket in one of my favorite cities.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

for sure doing saturday of this. already excited for mmj at bonnaroo and having the opportunity to see them in kentucky at my first post covid festival makes this a lock for me. went in 2019 for the raconteurs and the location was pretty fancy. good time of year for it too. they had an area set up where people could bet on horses and watch telecasts and i did that for about an hour and it was pretty fun. overall very pleasant festival. if the lineup intrigues you and getting to lexington isn't a hassle i can't recommend this enough

Did you drive in and out for the festival in 2019? Was people Ubering in and out?

actually i want to drop a funny story about when i went to railbird. brandi carlile played before the raconteurs in '19 and me and my dad were excited for both. we posted up at the main stage after checking out a couple other stages and had a great spot not far from the stage. after brandi carlile started, i looked over and jack white was side stage on the right just barely in view of the audience. he had on these dope shades and a leather racing jacket with his three blue stripes branding on it. he watched her for the entire show so not only was brandi carlile great and put on an awesome show, the entire time i saw jack white's pale white face bobbing to the music in my periphery.

so i live in southern indiana and only went on saturday. we drove in the morning and getting into the festival wasn't bad at all. we drove home after the festival and getting out after the headliner ended... took a while. there was only one small road all of the cars had to file out of and there were probably a couple dozen people just tailgating in the parking lot waiting for the cars to get through because the line was long. i remember seeing a designated uber/lyft zone but i can't speak to how it was or how busy it ended up being.
that was the first night of the festival ever so maybe the next night it was better or they have a different plan this year but parking was a sore spot after an overall excellent day at the festival tbh.

Thanks for all the info. My only reservation with buying tickets was the festival's proximity (or lack thereof) to hotels combined with the large quantities of bourbon available. Hopefully that Uber/Lyft zone is a well-oiled machine.
Once again, the promoters failed to consult with me before finishing the schedule! Not happy about Leon Bridges-Billy Strings-Japanese Breakfast all overlapping. Gotta go with J-Brekkie- her new album is blowing up, and given how out of left field this booking was for an Americana/roots based lineup, it'll probably be easy to get a good spot.

Nothing exceptionally close but anywhere off an exit from New Circle Rd-southbound or downtown should be good. Money no object you can stay at a castle and probably the closest option to fest site as well against all odds.

So anyone whos been, do y'all think I can catch like the first 15 or 20 mins of billy strings and still get a good spot for mmj or should I just wait it out at the main stage for mmj?
All tickets now sold out. With other festivals finally enacting a COVID-19 policy requiring vax or negative test, is it too late for Railbird (3 weeks away) to do the same?
Answering my own question- Railbird will now require vaccination card or negative test results, almost verbatim with Sea.Hear.Now- which also uses Front Gate Tickets.
Two down, one to go (Firefly), for my Fall festival slate.
We arrived before the gates opened, and it took about 15” to get in.
From about 5-8 pm the lines for food and drink vendors we’re extremely long, and didn’t seem to move at all. Maybe everyone’s a bit rusty, but they definitely needed more servers in the busy hours. We ate at around 1:30 and again at 9, with very little wait. But yeah- they missed selling us a few drinks because we’re not going to miss an artist we came to see just to wait in line for a drink.
I can confirm that it was 90 degrees and sunny through about 7:00- brutal and unrelenting heat- but that’s what we’ve experienced in New Jersey all summer.
