I'm not sure, but the way it happened with you makes me think there needs to be some delineation between timing of oracle name. Maybe that tilts the game too far in the direction of town, but when we debated whether it was you or Jortles it took a lot of the game's effort.
As far as tilting the game toward the town - maybe mafia just need to play better.
I still think a better balance is for the oracle to give guesses during the start of the day not the end of one
I wish I could remember what game # I really delved into this but I think that...
it prevents oracle from being able to change their guess on the fly, during the day. if oracle is whacked a name still comes out, it just will be locked to the previous guess.
this prevents real collaboration with inspector/oracle. they can still work together, but not so much that's it's just paint by numbers to D5 which it feels more like rn.
I do feel like from what people have copped to that oracle isn't wildly changing votes through the day, most people just seem to stick to a person, so it's probably not that big of a deal, but because so much information can come out at the start of a day, some way to be locked into your guess I think keeps it balanced between this is bad for mafia and this is worse for mafia.
