This isn’t the first year that Levitation has been this way. The theory that DD decided not to have shows during levitation makes sense but there really isn’t any reason to think Levitation is the reason DD is doing a month of shows at Pappys.

Maybe. Honestly I'm just glad this made the choice easy. I can always catch a show at pappys when I head that direction. This crosses levitation ofF my list finally
I don't see them as being a perfect fit for Levitation but Japanese Breakfast just announced a show in Houston on october 30th and don't have shows the other dates of the fest.

I think she's a better fit than Angel Olsen last year. last song on the new album swells pretty hard at the end, just throw her on a bill with someone else w a heavy dream pop sound

I saw Red Fang open up for the Sword several years back and were decent - but I'm sure you've seen them. I fn love Starcrawler though. I've seen them 3x, and they always deliver chaos. Two shows back, Arrow had an on-stage abortion and killed herself multiple times. The antics are fucking hilarious to me, but I think it would possibly put some people off. Blood-glam? I got ants. I got ants. I got ants. I got ants...
Also, looking back at that Cloud Nothings poster, if the whited out portion of the "city" is real sized, it has to be either Houston or Austin. No way can it be New Orleans. Here's the linked back poster. Got to be Levitation.

Starcrawler are amazing live. Easily one of my favorite shows from 2019. Arrow is the female 70's era Iggy Pop. She was spitting in peoples face, punching everyone she crowd surfed on, then managed to get back in time to finish the song. And everyone loved it. Just pure absurd punk rock.
They played 2 sets at Voodoo in 2018 and then came back in 2019 and played a small venue. I saw Arrow before they came on in her 666 hockey shirt (Tyler TC I think), and we peaced each other off. Reminded me to go back to my recap of the two shows they played Saturday at Voodoo 2018. First one was on an alternative stage.
Starcrawler was awesome. Arrow is greatness. Hung and stabbed herself, had a seizure and a breakdown, bled, had sex. Fucking right Halloween punk. Bled for a few songs. Haha. I’m definitely going see them again at 5. \m/
So I got to the Toyota tent early for the second mini-show and got side rail. These two guys who couldn’t have been 18 have this big ass bag of blow and offered. I had to laugh and decline but we ended up bullshitting. They were so enamored with the first show they wanted rail for this one. It was between Lizzo and Janelle.
After Lizzo, I went and posted up at Toyota Tent to see Starcrawler’s second set. I was right on the edge of the stage on the side. Shit was even more wild than the first show. In addition to antics from the first show, she jacked off her mic in someone’s face, pulled some shirtless guy’s nipple, licked the camera and pulled off a few more stunts. Fucking punk rock.
So the dude in the front center thought he had it all videoing the show. She comes up touching herself and gyrating and gets real close only to lick his phone and fuck his shit up. Hahahaha. Greatness and a fun trip back thru memory lane.
I get your point about the city/state. By the same token, if the whited out portion of the venue is real sized, it could be Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. No way can it be Levitation. I don't what's happening in Houston that weekend.
Amazing undercard but overall, smaller than previous years for obvious reasons. Weird to see The Hives as a headliner for a psych music festival but that's where they are at.
