I expected some weaksauce like Illenium and Machine Gun Kelly. Megan was 4th tier heading into the 2020 lineup. But she's obviously giant now. Jamie XX on there makes it much better. Carti is alright and Flo Milli. Slowthai is on it too. So I guess they did okay with the rap so far. They usually add more acts a month or so after announcements. I don't think I'll be getting the Super VIP for this, but I'll get the G.A. and skip the crap.

^^^some good stuff on that Buku Planet B lineup. Playboi Carti, Jamie XX, Ghostemane, Slowthai, Park Hye Jin. I think Chris Lake is alright too? he skirts that EDM/tech-house line so sometimes i like his stuff and sometimes it's kind of bland. not sure what type of music he spins now.

I can probably do without Purple Disco Machine since I hated that shit all the way back to grammar school. But it's almost like you have to pass by in a Limp Bizkit kind of way.

This thing will be like 10,000 people a day. Easy to skip some of the crap and still get close for the bigger acts. Boutique fest. Anyone know cost?
They said slightly less people than normal (all outside rather than using the Float Den, Ballroom, etc.). I’m thinking 14-17k instead of 22k. Usual prices for full Buku are a couple hundred for 2 days, 650 for super vip (alcohol and front of stages) and other tiers in between. Early on-sale pricing starts Thursday.
For whatever reason (legal?) Pooh Shiesty is out. I probably would have seen him, but I wasn’t married to that set. However, they have added Isaiah Rashad which is a fairly big upgrade for me. I’ve only seen him live once, but it was a very good performance. Isaiah Is good live, and iltgis is potentially a top 3 set for me.
I didn’t know he had new material out, but I listened to some of The House Is Burning on the way to work. Some of it will translate well live.

Idk. I’m sure they’ll have to decide over the next couple weeks. I’d lean toward it rolling over, but ?
Edit Friday - With the cancellation of French Quarter Festival today, I'm leaning more toward this not happening. Today's 7,548 new cases is probably a record day. Stupid fucking no-vax idiots.
Ah well. That's everything major in New Orleans (Voodoo, Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, Buku). Can't blame them as I have personal issues with stupid fucking no-vaxxers.
Dear BUKREWE –
As you’ve probably seen, Louisiana is getting rocked by COVID again and it’s causing large events in the state to cancel. We’ve spent the last couple weeks trying to hang on, but don’t see a guaranteed path forward under the current & projected public health conditions. Therefore, in keeping the health & safety of our community as our top priority, we are canceling BUKU: Planet B that was scheduled to take place this October. Ticket holders will receive an email soon with details about the refund & rollover process.
The purpose of PLANET B was to “set yourself free” as we celebrate the return of festivals in New Orleans. Simply put, we’re not quite there yet. However, by putting the health of the community first NOW, we believe we are doing the right thing to preserve the FUTURE and ensure that this surge is the last.
We also want to say that we support the City’s current guidelines and we fully support those festivals moving forward in other locations around the country. It was just bad timing for us down here, but the City of New Orleans is resilient AF. We will be back in no time and it will be awesome. In the meantime, stay safe, get vaccinated, and we will see you next year.
To end on a positive note, the lineup for the next BUKU on March 25-26 2022 is insane so far. Can’t wait.
