yeah i mean the only real eligibility rules are that the artist is active, and that they have one of the draft-approved buzzwords in their wikipedia bio or wherever. Arca should absolutely qualify
I don’t get this at all. People drafted Neil Young in this draft and are challenging Arca who is way more fitting? Did I miss a rule that you have to play guitar?

Neil Young is the Godfather of Grunge, a genre of rock music.

the point is that either way, Neil Young qualifies under the current rules and Ween doesn't. There are other bands I wanted to draft who didn't qualify because they weren't listed as one of the qualifying genres on their Wikipedia page. It's an arbitrary rule, sure, I agree, but it's probably the easiest way to determine which "stretch" acts qualify and which don't.

You are all well-versed enough in music to know what constitutes a hard rock act that would play at a hard rock festival and not rely on whether someone has seven genres listed on their Wikipedia with one that semantically qualifies as opposed to one with a couple genres that just say "experimental rock" or whatever Ween's says.
okay, whatever, I know I'm being pedantic about the rules but I don't give a shit. My personal opinion is that I don't think either Ween or Arca should be allowed but if you want Ween that much then I'll change my vote to have Ween stay.

why shouldn’t arca be allowed?
I also voted for Arca to stay. what I meant by "my personal opinion is that Ween or Arca should be allowed" is that I think Ween is an alt rock band and Arca is an electronic musician who isn't really "industrial".
honestly, I don't want to come across as too bitchy about this either way, especially when my main point was that I think the Wikipedia rule, although not perfect, is a good fast rule for who should be allowed and I'm sorry if I did. I don't really think the "spirit of the game" rule should be exercised at all but that's not really fair to anybody else either.
Tbh I'm this close to dropping the wikipedia rule entirely and hoping people just try to draft some damn punk and metal
This doesn’t make sense. I’ve been avoiding picking acts just because of this rule, otherwise I would’ve drafted differently
"If there are strange exceptions that by the spirit of the game seem like they should be eligible, such as acts in subgenres of the previously listed, go ahead and draft them, but they are subject to poll."

I think people have basically done fine with individual acts. I think Teddy had something different in mind as to what the lineups would look like holistically. My conception of that was something like a combo of Louder Than Life/Download/Warped with maybe some Psycho flavor. I think most or all acts drafted so far could fit in that box.

I don’t understand why you’re quoting this to me when my issue is dropping the wiki rule after 10+ rounds

I'm not actually gonna do it, was just getting a little frustrated with...ya know
besides the issues of creating rules in the draft, arca is an interesting artist in how much her sound has changed in the last couple years. i hope her canceled tour gets rescheduled soon to see if it's still on the insane noisy side of things or it's evolved. like ben frost wouldn't be challenged, due to what equipment he has used recently in his live shows but arca is more performative. idk if she should be allowed but i wouldn't draft her

Sorry, not trying to beef, just pointing out that the wiki rule isn't fully restrictive. I totally get not wanting to defend every pick you make, but the option was there.
Arca makes more sense than Frost. he's (Tristan) got the keys to the set and the dj set was fucking hard. I imagine the live show now isn't all self titled/piel type stuff but even if it is idc
