That is the lightest Essence lineup I have ever seen in my life. Also, I am going for some Nicki Minaj.
I'm not even sure if the amount of acts on that lineup constitutes a festival.
It will eventually. At least I hope. I mean it is in the Superdome.
EDIT: The video shows more artists than are listed. The actual talent page is broken and they are only selling weekend passes. Check out the video on their page, it's embedded so I can't pull it to post. D-Nice was one for sure I saw that isn't actually listed.
I attended the 1st edition of THING in 2019, it's an awesome time! For undercard names check out Terror/Cactus, local Seattle artist makes psychedelic cumbia music. If the paella truck is there again, that is the spot.
Checking Terror/Cactus out now and yeah, this rocks. Thanks for the recommendation! Will keep an eye out for the paella truck as well.
On the offchance you remember, how did they do the stages/scheduling? Kind of curious how bad conflicts will be; Father John and Goose and Sparks all on the same night makes me a bit nervous
4 stages total I believe. 2 main stage setups opposite each other but a long walk in between em so no sound problems. Third largest stage is in an auditorium style building behind one of the main stages (line up early for any hot acts in there). Small stage is in a small theatre towards the middle of the festival grounds; expect the comedy sets in there. I don't remember any tough conflicts for me but they did have both main stages playing at the same time.

Jesus Christ, roller skates appeared on my feet as I was reading this
As someone that tries to ALWAYS have roller skates on her feet, I concur. This is a skate night dream. I think I am making a playlist for Saturday's skate.
EDIT to say, I love how they have to add the artist's (biggest?) hit because so many people born after 1995 wouldn't know who 90% are.
We had the 80's invasion shows every year and they did the same thing with the bill and put the big hit from everyone playing. The last one def had artists just play their one song.

They didn't use Take My Breath Away for the Berlin song? What a fucking waste.
