That's not a comment on Trombone Shorty as a performer or artist. I've seen him a handful of times and it's always good. My comment is regarding him as the first act listed after the two headliners is a drop off in terms of popularity and status. I'd be surprised if he's even playing (and filling) 1000 cap rooms outside of NOLA. It's more to do with headliners that are of headliner quality, but the undercard isn't spectacularly weighty.
I have no idea. I'm going to check venue capacities for the last 10 shows in the USA/Canada and then in the world.
Event Center Hollywood Casino, Ranson, WV - up to 1,500
The State Theatre, Ithaca, NY - 1,600
FM Kirby Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA - 1,832
Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY - 1,800
The Music Hall, Portsmouth, NH - 895
State Theatre, Portland, ME - 1,870
Danforth Music Hall, Toronto - 1,500
Carolina Theatre, Durham, NC - 1,055
Mill & Mine, Knoxville - 1,200
Heights Theater, Houston, TX - 500
Moody Theater, Austin, TX - 2,750
So let's say 1450 in the US (not counting festivals which is about 15% of their appearances). Also whatever Red Rocks holds
I like them enough, but I only ever bought their first album (Backatown) which is very good and maybe 2011-2012 era. I was just curious about the sized venues they play because here it's either Saenger (maybe just under 2k?) or Tipitina's which is 800 something. They do play some of the city festivals and Jazz fest, so they'll play in front of 30-40k people at that. But otherwise, I had no idea.

$77 1/2 day, I think $145 full day and $265 2-day for GA. Ticket sales were lagging, they offered the 1/2 day tickets about 2 weeks ago, also saw that some people got coupon codes within the last week for discounted tickets. The venue isn't favorable. In a neighborhood, limited street and lot parking and over a mile away from the closest MARTA (Rail) station didn't help.

Yeah Centennial Park, their OG location, said they aren't doing festivals anymore (also the gun law still exists) so it forced them to find a private venue. The issue is, there really isn't one that's in a good spot for aa festival. I imagine renting out private venue raises costs too and guts capacity. Just a lose-lose.

EDIT: A Killers song is included in one of their posts
That makes sense. beebee posted this link in the other thread, and the article says they're going for rock and pop and targeting people in their 30-50s. Thought that was weird at first but if they're shooting for that millennial nostalgia, the Killers will probably do the trick for a 3 stage, 30,000 person fest. Wonder if it will suck or if we'll actually get an annual fest here. Only shitty thing is it's the same weekend of a camping trip I have planned.

This is kinda wild to announce a festival cancellation and also say "btw no refunds lol" Checked their socials and they were advertising tickets with every post up until 5 days ago
Very little buzz surrounding the lineup this year, probably due to the dip in quality and move out of downtown. Not going to be a priority for me this year, unless I get hit up to work again.
